yo respectfully we're losing the plot here, this seems to me more about the word obsession. traditionally the whole point of this non contest and main rule is: make an original song with the artwork as inspiration. even that is starting to get vague somehow, even though i know you copy pasted that wording of the rule confuses it

also the time frames have always been either a month or two, that gives people more than enough time. idk how we're getting to these a couple week joints suddenly; but two weeks and then telling people to find their own image is missing it

id suggest just take more time to get this right if youre going to host, its not a rush to get the next one up (took me four days i think). seems like you defaulted to an image from a past song you made because you couldnt find an image. how i know this other than what you said ,is because youve used the same link since joining and that song has always been there every time

ive been in every non contest and have hosted, finding the image is the challenge for the host. look at the past non contest if you need help on how to pick an image, like for instance capitan crunch/bassifondi picked an image for #3 titled obsession - all love man

I was following the previous time frame. It's why I put a question mark at the end as well.
As someone who has only been in the past few, my impression hasn't been that the image portion was paramount given the context or flavor of the prompts. But I'm not here to be an upstart and flip tables either.

That said, for reasons I'm not going to get into, if all things should flow from visual cues then respectfully, I'm not the fella to host and someone else should do it.

@PulseWave do you want to host #15? youve entered in a couple and havent hosted yet. that means picking the visual art, setting a deadline of a month or two and transitioning it to the next host of #16. also making sure the rules clearly say that the song has to be an original created for this thats inspired by the image you chose

 

Thank you @Usr4321 for your initiative, I think what you write is great, I'll say it in my own words:

Profession comes from vocation! If you have talent and love something very much and your heart burns for it and you work hard, something great will come out of it.

Imagine if tomorrow all young people started studying music.
Who would then build airplanes or plant and harvest grains, vegetables, and fruit? Just think about why that is.

If you get lost, you should take a break and return to your original position. Why tunnel vision? Why not immediately tap into your full creative potential when you start something? You usually see the result in front of you, but the road to it is rocky.

However, art is when you do something without knowing in advance what the outcome will be. There's an infinite amount of bad and unlistenable music. Only quality and exceptional music prevails in the long run.

 

2 months is maybe too long for me because I tend to destroy everything I touch too much.

 

i definitely think two months is too long but thats what my friend @Amore_de_la_Vida said was the options when he brought the contest to this site. i think only two people have done two months and yeah, it was long as hell

we need a host though since he thinks someone else should do it @Lemmy @9ty @vuldegger ; neither of you have hosted yet. its not too difficult, find an image, keep the rules that the work created has to created for this and inspired by the image, select a deadline, select a host for #16

 

I´ll hop in the defence of the 2 week deadline, it was not some sort of rule braker idea, i´ve noticed in the past few there was a window where there was not much traction, so as i opted for the sidequest type image and i also opted for the ´emotion thru memory´ rather than the specific "artistic" image so i suppose Usr4321 just continued the similar freeminded traction..rulebraking it...

2 months tho, this one made me focus and interract more being "urgent", for me a month i´ll just forget about it.

Now i´m not sure if i should do the lottery wheel, after Usr4321 started this one i rolled it and it caught @Lois Lane as a winner?

 

@reticular yeah i understand and thank you for helping and taking accountability. if @Lois Lane doesnt want too i can or maybe @capitan crunch , seems like the lights are too bright for everyone else since theyre not responding

i know last time Lois had to step up when we couldnt find a host, shouldnt have to fall on him every time but if the wheel landed on him i mean. we should let him decide

 

Yeah, i´ve told him not knowing we would actually need to pick a host but he did actually got picked and even tho, it is 15th, maybe another round is up for everyone.

I mean, after the last one, everyone might be at ease choosing the "right" image, if it is honest it will work out, no need to impress, touch of personal input and off we go.

 

I'm here if someone who hasn't hosted doesn't come forward.

 

Hi dear musicians,
I am sorry, i couldn't participate for #13 as I cannot end my piece on time, i was really too busy, and about #14 I gave up when i saw the short deadline.
Personaly i cannot stand a 15 days deadline, i am a slow musician and cannot spend as much time as i would want to.
All I can say is that I fully support the original spirit of the non-contest like @Grape Ape mentionned it well.
Besides, i definitely think hosting a contest should be on a volunteer basis, and spinning the wheel should occur only if there are several volunteers.

 

I played the Swiss Lotto yesterday and though I haven't looked yet perhaps I won the Daily Double , the right to host #15 as well as making book picking numbers!

@reticular , I have already hosted #7 and maybe the first or the second iteration and there are others that are rip roaring and ready to go!

Edit...I'll do my best to submit this round. It's been a strange trip lately.
