very nice painting, can give a lot of different feelings, but of course the first thing i thought was "someone running. away from something? catching something?" well it didn't matter, i wanted to capture the feeling of rushing/driving, going forward. also, the faceless man seems to be running "out of the painting" and this can lead to *many* interpretations.. so of course, what do i do? make a quick arpeggio with some strings. ok not bad, but it sounds way too repetitive, the classic octaved pattern. so i inverted the last section, the lower notes up, and the upper notes down. gave it a nice feeling. "mmmh, i like this arp, i wonder how it sounds with a synth..." and then i completely scratched the orchestral idea, which im not good at anyway. i'm pretty sure i've heard this pattern in other 90s tracks, but i can't recall any at the moment.

song was shaping up well, very "minimal" not so much stuff in it. the arp plays for the whole duration. but it was missing something. of course, i grabbed samples of jonestown because those never fail to deliver energy and power (eh...) i'll admit those don't have much to do with the picture, but surely fit the vibe of the music.

i might have fucked up the kick's sub, i don't have strong speakers (let alone a decent room lol). all in all, i quite like the way it slowly turned into this. i think many things could have been done better, but the original strength and motivation to shape up the track is over.

track is in F minor, 137bpm, with the last note of the arp out of scale by just a semitone: it sounded very nice so i left it there. done yesterday in 4-6 hours; today i spent another hour matching volumes and adding finishing touches. while it's uploading i'm listening to other submitted tracks and now i feel quite "behind" as compared to mine they seem much more professional or at least more creative! good job everybody. its nice to see that this is helping people produce more or at least come up with ideas. well done all.

@Backtired .. Thank you so much! Early this morning before sunrise I needed to drive to the Kia dealership for the Winter/Spring tire change and decided to listen to your "getting on down the road" entry on the way, when, because your song is so damn hot, my car actually burst into flames. The craziest thing is, all through the inferno the song was still playing and it got louder and louder and louder. When the fire crew finally arrived instead of putting it out they began dancing around it like wildmen in a stone age ritual.

    You owe me big time!

Really happy that the image inspired you to make all those awesome tracks!

I had the luck to meet Rafael Canogar personally form when I participated in the making of this documentary about the whole family. It was also the last documentary my mother did (she was documentalist and screen writer) before the cancer took her last year. Rafael is now a very very rich artist with a very very huge ego: Canogar comes from Cano GarcĂa, regular spanish surnames, but he manage to create his very own surname on public state record so he can pass it down to his progenie, that type of Ego XD.

For all Canogar's works, this social series that this pic belongs to are the ones that resonate more with me. It was at the end of Franco's dictatorship in Spain and a lot of people were killed by police forces in demostrations. My track verses on the Vitoria Massacre of 1976: Just three months after Franco's death, in a general strike demostration against a law that wanted to limit working class wagers, the police sourrounded a church where a lot of protesters took shelter in, fill it with gas canisters and then proceed to shoot everyone that tried to escape from the interior. 150 wounded and 6 deads from shootwounds was the result. All comunications from the from the police's radio were recorded for posterity and I used excepts of those comunications on the track. It's an illbient, narrative, "art installation" feel track that I think suits perfect this Canogar's work. Hope you like it!
