A frenetic Lujon, a spazzed out Pink Panther or Peter Gunn decided to snort the whole gram of coke in one sitting, so Mancini is either rolling or laughing in his grave...nice freaking piece!

@vuldegger nice job, very cyberpunk. felt like i was roaming NYC at night in a shady neighborhood, good use of atmosphere and mood

@FrankPig that was great, though i disagree with not being able to outrun yourself, since even on a physical level athletes do it all the time; i loved that. definitely had like an Austin Powers spy vibe, that upright bass was really nice and added a lot of character. also love the fast picked guitar at the end, that plus the synth definitely gave it the frantic energy you were going for, great job

also how tf did that cat get in that jack-o latern @Lois Lane lol

@Grape Ape .. This pumpkin was created in a lab by splicing Venus Fly Trap genes into an everyday orange gourd. It produces a milky-white substance that mimics the taste of heavy cream that no cat can resist the urge to lick. The cat will be completely digested, taking between 8 and 12 hours depending on the breed. Maine Coons take the longest.

Worms! I really liked writing this one. Like all the asks of the artworks provided for our Not A Contest exercises, it took a little while for me to find my legs and to veer off the mundane to discover a tangent that I vibed with. The Canogar figure running away from Franco's Spainish secret police appealed to me, but rehashing something historical from the past seemed the easy way out (as well as I had done it for #7) and so I chose create a future dark history infused with the present instead.

I had some nice motivation to push me forward with a new to me Neve 1073 DPA preamp that I put through it's paces on everything being mic'd in this project. I also used microphones I either haven't used in a long time or for applications I normally set aside for other jobs. I used my Electronic Voice RE-20 on the main vocal and SM57s on the harmony vocals and was surprised at how well everything sounded. I also for the first time used a very inexpensive Yamaha Guitalele (a ukulele sized 6 string with a deep body tuned up a 5th) that I bought for 30 bucks for both guitar parts. I made it work but most probably won't do that again as the tuning is very unstable and it doesn't really work very well in the context of pulling to guitar weight in a song. I've got other guitars that sound MUCH nicer. Also I got some really killer weed to smoke this past week that helped me to scarf up some creativity from out of the aether. Of course I also volunteered a few different harmonicas including a bass variety for dramatic affect. The intro crazy lead thing is an HY-Plugins HY-Poly vsti patch that I tweaked for my taste for the part. I also played the Squire Jazz bass that I've been borrowing for the last bunch of years but never really used. I'm going to do this more often. Drums are live played samples.

The prelude that I tacked on in the beginning are The Worms scoping out Earth to see if there's a meal down there with the Native American Flute (I haven't recorded with it in like 25 years or so) speaking in the voice of the unfortunate little white rabbit, the first animal eaten by the alien space worms. I tried to insinuate a sense of doom. I used that flute, five small bells tied together with a piece of twine and a patch I created on the Arturia Polybrute with other sounds from Synapse The Legend HZ.

Anyway, I really like how it all came out, the sum greater than the whole kind of thing.

Worms in my head they won't leave me alone
Chewing up my memories, likely eat me to the bone
My pistols are no consequence, emptied my bandolier
They have no eyes to see, no ears to hear nor quiver-quake from fear

And now they're niblin' on our babies
Their sweet flesh 'cause they can
We're 'tween a big rock and a hard place
Can't dig in, or make a stand

They hitched a ride on a comet, saw that blurred streak in the sky?
When passing high up above us thought they'd give a taste, a try
There's like 8 billion humans but a zillion more of them
They will be taking care of business then on their way again

    On tiny little worm wings
That they grow when bellies full
Then fly right back high up into the sky
When dem munching days are through

There's no one left here among us, worms have eaten all their fill
Not even now a bacteria, cockroach or whipperwill
I really thought we'd end ourselves, the A Bomb, World War Three
Those gottdamn space worms did a job on us, they set our souls a'free

    Soon the buildings will a'crumble,
Trees will fill in all the cracks
And once again a virgin paradise
    Time's a cleptomaniac

wow i enjoyed that @Lois Lane . i really liked the intro that was beautiful, reminds me of tripping on peyote. your voice also sounds like its back to normal this month. i also agree with the ukulele guitar take, especially when you got Martin on deck, though i also get it, its nice to switch it up sometimes - overall though i can really tell youre having fun with it, great job homie

@Grape Ape .. My peyote (with a helping teaspoon of late '90's Stanford University's own chemistry department DMT) adventures inform every nook and cranny of my creative endeavors. As well as tripping balls on acid as a teenager and the hefty amount of psilocybin I've injested over the course of my lifetime, my inner eye and outward ears have been irrevocably tuned to frequencies not shown on any earthly dial. The overnight 12 hour American Native Church ceremony which I was invited to attend by a Lakota Chief is indeliblely engrained upon my soul and psyche.

And yes, my voice is back and perhaps even more fit than it has been in quite a while but for the daily one shot inhaled dose of a corticosteroid with a side of vilanterol. It keeps the inflammation down from my emphysema else Tom Waits and I would be singing blood curling duets! Don't smoke tobacco, I wish I never had.

    @capitan crunch .. Thanks!

I dunno man, no matter how fast and how far you run, you always arrive at the same time as your self.

Well, in Season 6 Episode 3 Superman splits his molecular structure in two, and unless he did it exactly the same on the atomic level then he would necessarily beat himself in a foot race, the lesser of himself slightly behind the greater!

    I stand corrected...

You can, apparently, beat yourself in a race with yourself (with the caveat that you are Superman).

Not a problem, sometimes i have a imposter sindrome feeling like a car mechanic at the orchestra trials, but if you can repeat a piece with that quality again i would thought you as a serious (game)composer.

@Lois Lane yeah man i wont. i did have like a couple week phase of smoking cigarettes one time when i was down and couldnt get weed. i was like this is stupid, cause it was nasty and i barely felt anything, so i just stopped; was very easy for me. that would be cool to do peyote with a guide though, i live in Texas so it grows out here (and in mexico) out in the wild, so its easy to get recreationally. i got invited to an ayahuasca retreat last year, that was nice so i know it would be cool to have them interpret the visions

ive never done LSD though, chemical stuff or pills i stay away from (though i did try MDMA in high school). plus i grew up seeing my great grandma's cousin, who fried his brain from acid, so i have a subconscious fear of it (though ive gotten many chances to try it). he was like a math-y engineer before and was going around cutting lawns afterwards, it was pretty sad

@FrankPig oh see what you meant. i was thinking more like in sprints and relays, where you can beat your time or distance, which is outrunning yourself, i feel you though
