when you say device dkny, what if legit licenses are on say D drive and your other acct licenses are on g drive..or does it definitely need a usb stick for one set..also does that usb stick need to stay plugged in all the time? ..i know thats alot of questions...
i notice that whenever i load a plugin from the legit section, it overwrites the pa license in appdata\roaming\pluginalliance...and vice versa so they always are mutually exclusive.

 

For every account plus non legit bunch (if you installed that) you have to have a separate "Hardware ID". The different HW IDs that you have on your Comp are shown in the activation window dropdown before you go I'm offline. AFAIK that dropdown shows your comp and the USB sticks as possible HW ID targets. No drives or other HW.

Yes, when you use the plugin. (You can stick the USB into another comp and use the plugin on that one)

 

thanks Roberto, it didn't work for me. legit registered on site and license transferred from usb stick to c drive on offline computer and r2r etc on a different usb stick..selected different source for each....legit stuff activates but keeps coming up with the 14 day trial activation screen again or error creating license when trying to activate the r2r stuff after the legit stuff..

 

As I already said in my previous posts:

"Because a USB HD is not a USB thumb drive/key. Authorising to a USB hard drive is not supported. You can either auth to your internal HD, or a USB key, as to the install instructions/support documentation."

If you're creating new scenarios not covered in the above quote, like, can I do different auths to different partitions on the same drive, or different internal HD's, or USB drives, or SSDs, or anything different to above, the answer is no (otherwise I would have written that in my instructions).

System drive, or USB key only. You'll need to auth the legit stuff to one of those, and your non-legit stuff to a different supported device. You can't have one keyfile on one device that supports two different users (legit and non-legit), which is why you have to generally do one set to your system drive, and one set to a USB key.

Yes, you need the USB key with the license file connected, otherwise you're plugins won't know about the activation, and will display as unactivated. It stands to reason that the plugins need to access the auth file in order to work, so removing the USB key containing that would not serve that purpose.

I'm just repeating myself now. As I said, this all works fine. If it's not working for anyone here, you are likely doing something wrong. Check your steps carefully.

Seems like you are deactivating a device when you're activating /w r2r. I'd suggest that you first install the r2r versions, simply because it's older (or the same, if the plugin wasn't updated by PA). Also, pay attention that the plugins don't "overlap" since some were released in bundles. I see you were able to activate one or the other.. still people usually forget to change Select device you would like to activate in PA activation window to the right one which can be e.g.:
Computer: DESKTOP-XXXXXX
Flash drive (drv): KINGSTON-XX
and so on...

- I would install the r2r plugins, open DAW, open plugin, activate, select a device from dropdown (e.g. Computer:..), I'm Offline, copy the Device you are about to activate to clipboard and drop that to the kg, generate .license, Open License - Activate

- Go to PA, My Account, Manage licenses, download the installers and install. Again, open DAW, open plugin, activate, select a device from dropdown (this time - Flash drive:..), I'm Offline, this time - Save to file that you upload to PA License manager and generate the .license file. Again, you Open License, but careful to first choose the other device (e.g. Flash drv:..) and not to open the .license that you generated with r2r kg

This is just a recap. TBH, I seriously cut down the amount of plugins I use ..so it's quite a while since I used the r2r's PA ;)

 

This is a windows solution only, we as MacOS users cant do this. I have tried installing the files on a different hard disk on my mac but that didn't seen to work either

So just for clarification, (I saw the first offer elsewhere), and got it, (should have checked here first obviously, duh...), but adding the Shadow Hills workaround etc doesn't work anyway so I shouldn't feel that bad? Or should I make another account?

Damn I was so stoked this morning like I FINALLY GOT the shadow hills, and for free!

Now im just dissapointed that I don't have the red version, and I didn't even know the HG-2MS existed, so thats even more painful.

Plus the AMEK looks insane.
Oh well I really wanted to try out the focusrite channel strip and we got that, plus it gives a half-off voucher for the ssl-9000 which is pretty cool.

 

Tried oberhausen just now, sounds kinda.... Not useful enough for the music im into now. But great giveaway from izotope.
