Desert Sound Studios has released (13/1/14) a free electronic drum sample library, based on the BOSS DR-550 drum machine.
The sample library includes all of the original samples of the Boss DR-550, a late 80′s digital drum machine.
The kit includes 83 drum samples in 24-bit WAV format. Each sample was recorded through a Focusrite ISA preamp and RME analog to digital converters.

@remix... i know these are old samples but i found a Boss dr-660 the other week (in a second hand shop)for £20 pounds and am well happy with it..I know the samples are never the same but i like some of that old school sound and thought others might too...

I almost exclusively use only original samples of rhythm machines rather than all the overprocessed ones they put in sample packs because that way you can get more original sound. However, it is a bit tricky to process them the way you want them to sound, but you learn new tricks all the time. Little EQ, little distortion, little compresssion, little reverb, little gate... ;)
