since i invested a bit in hardware synths, its unbelievable how this has turn into a chaos with cables. And there is simple not enough audio inputs too :D
And that only for a small amount of hardware, can only imagine how it is with more synths.

Biggest problem will be to dust-clean everything after summer ... because i needed to keep windows open, otherwise to hot ... :knock:

    TRUTH.

I had to upgrade to a line mixer in order to accommodate some extra gear I bought recently as I was basically out of inputs. Really dreaded having to rewire everything but I'm glad I did. Past this point, I'll most likely invest in a proper studio desk as I've got fuck all for space left on my current one.

Feel you on the dust. I normally keep a little feather duster handy just to brush dust off every few days but one of the better investments I purchased this year was an air duster. The thing is amazing for getting into tight spots, cleaning out keyboards, computer tower, fans... shit, I even use it to clear out window sills

    I have labeled all cables, for example MX49 L & MX49 R, so 4 glue. For the PC /Mainboard rear I have a diagram
of the mainboard connections on a DIN A4 page painted painted where then all devices etc. is entered.
Dust always accumulates, 1x a year I clean the PC from the inside and otherwise I use a vacuum cleaner with the small nozzle.

I have no cable management at all and lots of hardware. Cables all over the place. After a short while (15 years) the whole lot has been covered in a thick blanket of dust and is no longer visible. This is the cheapest form of cable management I know.

I recently bought two old and cheap Edirol UA-1000 audio interfaces and Ghielmetti patchbay matrices to somehow get rid of the total mess. But still, far too many cables required

The only way I've managed to regain my sanity when the amount of gears goes over a few sources/FX is to have a patchbay hooked up.

I've carried a Behringer Ultrapatch with me for years, and it's yet to give me any shit. Would recommend to anyone, it's paid for itself many times over.

    patch bays are your friend....

but you're gonna need a shit load o' cable and jack plugs. So learn how to solder and get stuck in.

I don't count cable spagetti as untidy when it's hidden round the back. ;)

I am using the Samson patchbays and they work great. You can switch from Normal, Half-Normal, and Through on each of the 24 channels from the front. They are a little pricey for something so simple; but well worth it anyway. Then snakes back and forth to the board.
No cable mess, and cables are all better insulated against interference and balanced. My electrical situation is probably like this guy though.
