    Hello everyone,
I wrote a dance tune to Morpheus’s monologue from the matrix with his “red pill blue pill” speech. I hope you enjoy, and tell me what sucks! Arrangement, mixing and mastering advice greatly appreciated.

thank you for your time and ears !

try stuttering your samples, fer instances "let me tell you why your here" - this phrase should repeat at least 3 times and add maybe add additional reverb on each loop of the phrase, so its very echoey by the last iteration.

slice up the dialogue, so you're not listening to a speech with a beat. add a couple breaks in the background track and let the dialogue ring out by itself in the background silence, bring up a synth line and drop the drums back in .

its too monotonous as it is..

but good try and good choices...

I like it. However I suggest using Studder Box on Morpheus' voice.

Can you send me a link to studder box? Cant find anything online about it. And yes, I was going to go completely crazy but Morpheus’s voice sat so well without touching the vocal. I filtered it hard at the beginning then gradually backed off the filter. The entire track is filtered up until “because you are slave…” where I kill the filter on the voice + the 2bus. The inspiration came from NINs “right where it belongs” the last track on With teeth.

I appreciate all the feedback. Thank you for listening and thank you for your time.

Don't you use Logic? You can do that stutter type effect with the RemixFX plugin set to repeater on the right side and you have an xy pad to trigger it. If you hit the Lock icon, it will latch it enabled and you can put more taps on top of it.

    Hello man,
I like your tune. Like the beat, the vibe, the speech.
I agree that a break would be great, it would create a drop, more energy. But, if it was an artistic option not to break, good, your track is great.
    Keep going

PS: almost forgot... I LOVE music with movie speechs, historical speechs, this morph between different types of art.
Even in the dancefloor, people love it, already saw this scene happens

    I use ableton, not logic.

And again, yes there could have been many ways to break up the sound design on the vox, it was a conscious decision to leave the vocal "as is" in both timbre and sound design. The last two parts of the monologue have a vocoder doubled underneath the vocal itself.

When i first sampled the monologue and dropped it in the track, it sat so well I decided to stay to a more pure form of the monologue. Although initially I was going to warp it beyond recognition and make it complete "droid" sounding, with no connection to the initial voice. But it was almost like it was "In key" when i first dropped it on the mix. At the time I only had a the 808 + kick, snare, ch and built everything around that.

Still curious about "studder box" - the only thing that comes to mind is izotopes Stutter edit.

Thanks to everyone who checked this out and for the feedback. If you'd like to drop links to your own sound I will gladly return the favor and leave some feedback too.

    cheers!
