Is 2022. Any modern daw stock plugins + waves + autotune cover anything a competent producer may need. Are there other brands doing the same? Sure they are, plenty.

But making lists around best plugins now is as pointless as discussing what web browser is better for reading the morning news? Wanna feel competent? Make your music with stock plugs. Ciao!

So much agree. Nothing this guy uses will make anyone good at anything. It's just his choice of weapons. What makes him good is him actually sitting behind the boards and learning.. over years. u can literally use anything, from freebies to the most expensive, and be just as good.

 

at least he has enough skills to explain objectively why he uses these plug-ins ....which only very few of you can do.

 

This is true, and I wasn't tryna shit on your post bro! I was actually tryna focus on the new heads that think, "I'm gonna use what he uses then I'll be good". Many of the people in the vids comments are just like that. It's annoying. I wish he would include the disclaimer (if he did I missed it) that he's good because of 95-99% talent and dedication, not some magic plugin.

 

Dan Worrall (needs no introduction) has multiple videos on EQs cramping at high frequencies. Extremely objective and pertinent explanations.
On the other hand Serban Ghenea (18 Grammy) uses MH Channels strip as his go-to eq on all channels and that strip is known for eq cramping.

You can't really objectively explain why a plugin is superior since the end result (aka music) is subjective. Who continues to insist that you can't make professional sounding music with daw stock and some complete bundle out there (be it waves, be it ff, sonnox, slate, pa, khs, izotope etc.) really needs to check his competence. The only reason we pick one over the other is because we know one better than the other (and we need time to intimately learn new tools) or for workflow speed reasons (which, again, circles back at intimately knowing the tools).
