Hello again! This year I am looking to upgrade my monitors in my home studio (4m x 3m x 2.5m) which I am using for mixing/mastering. Will also make thicker wall panels and add ceiling absorption. Was currently looking at the Focal Shape Twin or EVE SC305, but I am curious to hear your opinion and any other suggestions. ( :[IMG]

    I ended up buying a pair of ADAM A77X, being on a pretty big sale ( 1476 USD / 1369 EUR )
They have shown me that my room sounds very bad! My absorber panels are too slim(5cm / 2 inches) and no treatment at all on the ceiling combined with a pretty small room ( 4m x 3m ) make for a very bad listening space. I have learned my lesson ) : Stop buying gear until I have acoustically treated my room accordingly! Hope that helps anyone who sees this!

It's not too late to do your acoustic treatment.

That's cool. Was price the only factor or were you able to audition the other monitors? My panels are 4" thick, all around the room and ceiling as well. So maybe not the greatest treatment, but not bad. I'm also going to be using sonarworks 4. You can look into that.

Working at 80dB or below this volume will reveal less the shortcomings of your room with the added benefit of preserving your precious hearing as you travel towards your destined future. %)

THE HEARING INPAIRED OLD GUY SPEAKS IN WITNESS TO THE FOLLIES OF YOUTH.

Also, brush your teeth after every meal, no excuses. Drink plenty of water, be kind to yourself and those around you.

    That's all.

Oops, P.S. Learn to play at least one musical instrument, and if you do not now, do so! If you do, learn another.

Sadly, I could not audition any of the monitors, as all the physical shops have been closed for 2 months now, and the nearest city in which I could hear them is 7 hours of travel time away.

Thanks for the tips! One more from me: always wear hearing protection, when rehearsing with your band or at a live show!
I am actually working at pretty low volumes (don't know exactly because I don't have a dB meter and I don't trust my phone dB meter). Still, all the reverb and whatnot in my room makes listening and playing music pretty fatiguing

Haha! Thanks for the advice! I will take it to heart.

yeag, all our shops are closed too. I’ve been speaking to vendors and they have focal shape twins in stock and would let me return them if I don’t like them. But eves are special order for some reason and returns aren’t allowed. I think I might just have to go with focals then. I’m waiting on an email from a eve distributor to see if they can help out.
