As a full time offline FL (legit) user I don't have any problem with their authorization process. As my computer don't have wifi, I got a usb wifi stick for when I want to connect, and so I just quickly connect it to authorize FL when needed, and 30 second later I'm back offline. No problem with the tons of craked program and VST that I use on that computer or with potential Windows update (I turn off the automatic update everytime I start a fresh install or got a new computer).
I also use that same method to authorize others plugin that I have and need this process. But outside of those 30 seconds probably 2 or 3 time a years (maybe less or more, depend on how many new plugin I buy), my computer is fully offline and FL work perfectly fine.

If you take this as an argument to not buying it, then you just looking for excuse to justify not buying it. And as you probably know, this forum is definitively not the place where we'll judge you for that so you don't have to pretend

I doubt it Cubase is very much seen as a dinosaur DAW these days by the younger generation. It doesn't have the appeal that FL and Ableton has for HipHop and EDM which are the most popular genres.

that article smells like b.s. any casual glance at youtube i can't go a day without seeing someone using reaper. only dash glitch seems to use cubase. ableton and bitwig are popular. flstudio is insanely popular too. almost never see anyone using pro tools on youtube, i mean it's not my idea of a good time really. it's like pulling out a cross stitch project during a party.

I'm just saying, perhaps most top paid engineers use pro tools, but what percentage of all DAW users are top paid engineers? probably less than .1%

No, this is really not my intention, but I think if you don't like the new protection model you should shout it out loud, and I know many people who don't like it, too, even here in this forum.

It's really unlikely but maybe the developer reads this forum.... And many software developers actually like critisism, because they always want to make their product better and better....

@Ambar thanks for the video. I hope this isn't your video though. This guys voice is the worst. I can hear him licking my eardrum. I can't even finish.

Quite funny... I quit using FLStudio on v11, because of some bad behaviours. I switched over to Reaper (after a 400 day test period :D) and NOW, years later, I see fade-in/outs appearing in FL Studio? Really? OMG, I think my decision was pretty right back then :D
Anyway, there are things I'm missing, like the patcher or the built-in step sequencer, however, I won't come back :P

Not a fan of the cluttered workflow FL provides but this new skin looks pretty good.

What is the actual problem behind IL and FL Studio? It's obvious that they're always struggling with the implementation of the well established solutions invented decades ago. Some time ago I've read that they're stuck with the programming language of the FL and that seems to be most reasonable explanation for their cumbersome workarounds and "epic" anniversary upgrades (read - closing in to other major daws).

As FL user starting with v1.7x (and legit user from v3 :D ), the devs said (long time ago) that the skin was hardcoded and therefore it was "impossible" to change, or make it skinnable / vectorized. Afaik FL is, or at least WAS, coded in Delphi. That was the reason why there was no 64 bit Version available for a too long time, just because there was no compiling possibility for that :guru:

Time has changed, FL is vectorized, 64bit, even native mac client is available. So I don't know how FL is coded nowadays (and I don't care anymore). However, it seems they need some more years to fill the feature gap to other major DAWs. Maybe I'll spend another look on it by v30 or somewhat :D
I mean, lifetime free updates...

Image Line - Fl Studio is made in Object Pascal programming language.

Fruity was the only DAW I knew from ver.4 (or so) to ver.11. And than came the 12 ver. and my serious doubt in IL. I expected substance and all I've got was nice and shiny outfit. That was a turning point for me and a turning point for IL. IL became more popular while I've got a feeling that I was scammed. Up untill the 11-th version Fruity was a coherent (underdog) DAW. Now they are cocky enough to justify many of their so called upgrades which are nothing more than workarounds to a problem.

    Just for fun observation.
The electronic genre is so wide that you could at any time find people disgusted with some electronic producers.
However, FL seems to be a tool for electronic producers who make music for people who really don't care about the genre as long as it's party.

If you don't face the competition in the DAW market, you will lose massive market share and at worst, as happened to Cakewalk - Sonar, disappear from the market. If you don't modernize as a manufacturer and adapt, future customers will go to the competition.
I also started with Fl Studio, but then switched to Studio One.

FL Studio is handy, but with this protection I'm afraid it will become like Cubase, namely user interest will drop. :suicide:
