Ola, I just finished a pop/ house track with my own vocals. It's in Dutch but I find it very hard to mix my own voice. I am getting quite sick of the song already so I would really love to hear some first-time listener feedback about the mix (bass, vocals, piano). I'm no singer in any way but please be critical!! It is about girls wearing high heels in the uni library, I got inspired when studying :p

I think your vocal mix is perfect! It's at the right level, it's consistent. I think I hear an underlying sub bass going on almost throughout the song. Are you layering your kick with an 808-style kick? Please continue making music that includes your voice

Everything sounds good, your voice is really locked in.

Thanks you a lot for listening, for the bass I'm only using serum :)

:) I saw, your first post about the delay/ reverb, that was pretty accurate. I removed most reverb delay on the drums but might experiment with a bit more!! Thank you for listing

    Sounds good to me.

I don't understand how Dutch is supposed to sound preciseley, I know it has a more fricatives and plausives than English and maybe some of them could use a little softening but it all sounds like it could be done in post anyway.

it sounds fine, and I think you got the vocal close to where you want it to be. I think you could probably do more creative fx processing on it too, if you wanted. You can hear the auto-tuning plugin kick in for a little creative effect already, and you could probably push that sort of thing much further. If you duplicate the vocal channels, you could try out a bunch of stuff and then just mute or delete them to return to the original.

lol, no worries, its totally functional.

I think it could be a little bit more controlled/compressed maybe, but then we are going out of context onto a better overall production, mix etc.

All in all vocals do work, and that is what you wanted to know right.

All tips are very welcome, started 1 year ago and am still trying to improve with every song. Just waiting for the point where I'm confident enough to actually release something. With more control you mean compressing the master or certain busses like drums/bass?
