As I mentioned in a single reply earlier.. here is a tutorial reference from iZotope that is pretty much in sync with the feedback I gave you. However, I'll give you a bit more insight than they provide. An EQ, dynamic EQ, compressor, or multiband compressor are the tools to decide upon when dealing with a masking issue. Knowing what tool to decide on depends on the audio track you are going to process. If it is a reoccurring sound on a track that always repeats the same note such as a kick drum.. you might use a standard EQ if you want to permanently alter the amplitude, or a standard compressor to sidechain the whole range of the kick to a low freq bass for example. If it is an instrument track with various note changes, sustain times, etc.. sidechaining to a dynamic EQ is the best and least destructive editing tool you can use to correct the problem. And a multiband compressor is closely similar to a dynamic EQ and will also suffice for the same task. Like I said, transient shapers and their purpose are a different subject to discuss.

you are welcome to use any tool to attempt to do anything you want, however what do you think eq, dynamic eq, comp or multibandcomp could ever do to help a masking issue? ( maybe it has to do with what you are thinking masking is?)

I know what masking is. I know what to use, and how to use it. You're talking off the cuff with every piece of so-called advice you offer. It's not legit for you to throw clusters of words that make no sense at people who have genuine questions. It wastes their time reading it just to decipher.. nothing. You can click that disagree button all you want to. I being straight up honest with you. "I know" you don't know what you're talking about in this forum. I don't dislike you. But it's obvious you should be a heavy student and a light teacher.

You just chimed in again here: https://audiosex.pro/threads/how-to-fix-compressor-popping-clicking-sound.31586/

And your advice to the OP was: "i solve it by only allowing the compressor to have its threshold hit -1 db rms of the audio, ( the reason is the type comp it is the attack and release and the knee)"

Come on man.. it's a waste of time for anyone to read that and try and make sense of it. Again, I'm being honest with you.
