I've got a bunch of ancient hardware and software that I need to use on some old projects I want to re-visit. So, to that end,
I built a dual boot WinXP/7 machine. It's been a REALLY long time since I've installed some of these programs and many of the old
keygens generate a serial# and then demand a "System ID" before generating an auth code. But for the life of me I can't remember
how to go about getting it. I've tried everything I could find online, command prompts, device manager, system utilities and these methods are generating some numbers but they all seem to be the wrong length or contain some other error. I've seen other keygens look for, (and sometimes generate), a "Machine ID" not sure if that's what I'm looking for tho. It's been almost twenty years since I've fired some of this stuff up and the 'ol grey matter has gotten a bit greyer.....LOL!!

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

    Thanks!!

    Cheers......Trip

    Computer name : System ID
Computer Mac address : Machine ID

Some applications used the Drive ID for license installations

There will be some information text file with the keygen or on the keygen/ license generator itself when you run it.

    1. How Can I Find the Computer ID on a Win 7 Operating System?

The computer ID contains 12 characters. Characters are hexadecimal (0-9 and A-F) and not case-sensitive.
To find the computer ID (also called the MAC address or physical address), follow the steps outlined below:

    - On the lower left of the screen, choose the Windows start button.
    - In the Search programs and files field, enter CMD (not case-sensitive) to bring up the black DOS screen.
    - Enter the command ipconfig/all.
    - Please be sure to scroll through the entire screen and record all the physical addresses found, except for those belonging to the tunnel adapters. There can be multiple physical addresses for a workstation.

    2. Finding your computer's name in Windows 7

    - Click Start, right-click Computer, and then click Properties.
    - The computer name is displayed under Computer name, Domain, and Workgroup settings.

Thanks. I tried all of the above before I even posted. Zero G Nostalgia VSTi keygen and various H2O keygens won't accept "Computer name : System ID" or "Computer Mac address : Machine ID". It says it's looking for a seven digit number. Some more recent NI keygens display a "System ID" number but it's a very long string and different NI gens on the same machine display different strings. Very frustrating!

Ok, I got it worked out....finally!! Install of old NI Bandstand pulled up the old NI Reg Tool that displayed the so-called "System ID" the keygen was looking for.

Thanks for all the help and advice!! YOU GUYS ROCK!!
