Finally: iLok supports Apple M1 ARM processors

This is what countless users and of course software vendors have been waiting for: PACE Anti-Piracy Inc. has adapted its popular copy protection platform called iLok to the new Apple M-series processors. This finally means native support of the software on all current Macs. Furthermore, this is also a starting signal for all developers to transfer their plug-ins completely to this format now. And for owners of Apple's new computers, this means full speed without any loss of performance due to workarounds and Rosetta 2.

Native Apple Silicon Support for PACE iLok

Everyone who works with music software should know the copy protection platform iLok. For several years I have been guarding my iLok dongle like the apple of my eye. Because without the licenses on it, the plug-ins won't run. A few years ago, the company introduced the iLok Cloud system, which is easier for many users. But why is this product actually integrated by plug-in manufacturers? So, of course, the illegal sharing of the software is prevented. And iLok is as good as "un-crackable".

Such a software is dependent on the operating system and therefore has to evolve regularly. Apple's change to new processors with a new architecture was and still is a challenge for many developers. In addition, there is the "unnecessary" time and costs, which should actually not be passed on to the customers. PACE iLok is only a part of a plug-in, which, like the plug-in itself, has to be ARM compatible. If only part of the whole software supports the new system, Rosetta 2 will still be launched, slowing down the software's calculations.

Now the company PACE Anti-Piracy Inc. has succeeded in porting to the new platform and you can update from now on. This also means that all M-Series compatible VST plug-ins that rely on iLok are now also 100% natively supported by Apple computers. That means Softube, Soundtoys, Slate and all other manufacturers: now there is full power!
