In the current market of over priced everything, SSL/Harrison releases a Pro level desktop interface that is not bus powered and, is 32 bit/192kHz ($600 U.S.).

    Detailed decscription
Promo Video is to the point succinct.
    Promo Video Joe Cooms

    Third party Promo Video.

Something I've been wanting for a while. A desktop interface that is not bus powered & has a nice set of needed features.

    Flex-10_User Guide_v3.0

    Edit:
Because of a developing sub-topic, here are a few articles for help clarify & inform how power quality can maintain or ruin your audio. A little over explained but, exactly to the point.

How does power supply quality audio component performance?
Balanced Power Is A Necessity, Not A Luxury

Basically, better power at the source, better performance for your gear along with improved audio quality & less chances of component failure. Dirt/friction in the source transforms into heat all the way through the circuit.

Please...keep to the topic as much as possible. There is quite a bit of meandering off-topic.

    An example:
There seems to enough space on the rear to have added the option of swapping out the output section as was done with the Harrison 510R 500 series rack. Or, at least something similar. Another possible option inside the tool set.

    Finally?

Clearly you have never used an Audient iD22 or iD44... we've had mid priced "Pro" interfaces in a desktop format with inserts for over a decade now.

    • ID24 is the current model powered by USB (bus powered). Has word Clock Out. Also only 24 Bit/96kHz at $550 U.S.
    • ID44 is also 24 bit/96kHz. It gives you an extra ADAT I/O set & Word Clock Out. $900 U.S
In the same price range, my personal pick is the Flex 10. Even over the SSL 12 which is also bus powered.

probably because it would not be possible. :)

it somehow smells like it had MH technique inside plus a new logo.

Having saturation into the channels is pretty cool, it also has some cool stuff such as the filters, but I wonder why stop there and not make a full channel strip, even if the filters and everything are all digital.

In all honesty, I don't think it brings anything that breathtaking to the table, might be a cool interface if you need to upgrade or start fresh, but I don't think anyone in that price bracket is actually itching for one. I have an ID24 and it's already end-game enough to me.

One thing that bothers me in pretty much all interfaces is that only Yamaha Steinberg are actually packing software features in their interfaces. My old Yamaha has a compressor, full parametric EQ, reverb and a bunch of other shit in DSP form INSIDE the interface. Most companies aren't even bothering making VST support into their drivers. Completely wasted, backwards thinking in the year of 2026. Those interfaces get more use outside of a DAW nowadays, and they're doing nothing to make them attractive for voice chatting, gaming or overall leisure (like adding VSTs to the outputs).

UAD does that, motu does that, antelope does that, MH does that, RME does that, focusrite does that, apogee does it, prism does it.

most of them do it for decades.

eventide does it the other way round and allows its effects processor to be used as ASIO interface.

are there any interfaces which do not have effects these days? besides m-audio and sabrent?

Remember that SSL also have their Solid State Logic SSL 2+ MKII USB-C Audio Interface which goes for $299.99 and the Solid State Logic SSL 12 USB Audio Interface @ $499.99

SSL mentioned on the release of the new Harrison 32 Classic console that even though Harrison products are still designed in the US, they are now built at the SSL UK factory. I'm not sure about these smaller products though.

In the 600 or less price range? As far as I'm aware I haven't seen any Motu or Focusrite interface with a full DSP suite. Yamaha Steinberg are the only one doing it. Maybe nowadays you can load VSTs in their drivers, but I haven't seen anyone talking about this. I know my ID24 doesn't do jack shit, they haven't updated the software in over a year. I'm pretty sure most interfaces in that price bracket don't do a third of what a shitty Steinberg does.

Zoom of all companies did that in UAC-232. No ADAT, yeah, but 32bit floating point it is.

the approach ist interesting and probably makes sense for a field recorder, but they are using 2 independent, regular 24 bit DACs and then convert either of them to float. (i.e.never at the same time)

so if you record whispering and a fighter jet at the same time, the whispering will not be captured as it is far below the 22th bit. :)

that was not the prerequisite, the message was others wouldnt be doing it at all.

it seems difficult to find out what the steinberg comes with, as far as i can see it is 6 effects including a guitar amp and a pitch shifter? no idea why one could need that prior to mixing. the useful stuff is combined into a single channel strip.

the smallest UAD is 550 bucks and has two time more effects, among them 3 different EQs, which is what you would exspect from a digital mixer.

i personally dislike that too many DACs now come with DSPs, which i personally do not need.

I thought they converted both. Anyway, it's all speculation on my part because I still wanna buy one to try it out. But I'll not derail the thread more, so I'll just shut up :)

If one has a working interface that does what one needs, then it's better to look away. These releases feed our GAS. It's like an acoholic staring at the door of a whiskey bar. I can only drool at the sight of the new shiny thing. However, I've had my current interface since 2014, and it's been rock solid. I can't even justify looking at the specs. When the first SSL2+ interface came out, I convinced myself that I needed my very own SSL product on my desktop. I barely use it. However, yesterday it saved me from having to set up my large mixer in a session. I needed one extra channel, and the SSL came to the rescue. Does it mean I need to check the new Harrison? No freaking way! I'll stay as far away from that thought as I can. :bleh:

I think it's a beautiful piece of hardware, i also think it doesn't outperform alternatives like the SSL MKII or Focusrite 2i2 by a milestone, having ADAT is good, yeah, not the utmost pinacle of engineering. Still, looks interesting, won't complain about alternatives, they do make the market push the boundaries. However, i have some hope for the quality of the converters, dunno why but they ring the "warm" bell, i expect this interface to do vocals some good.
