   so i have a synth and try to make a bass sound
   
   i get the bass sound i like but when i raise volume the sound distorts before it reaches the level i want it to be at

   Set the channel's fader to 0dB (not -infinite) and check the level. If it's already clipping, the synth is too loud, if it's below but close to 0dB and you raise the fader a bunch, you'll clip the mainout.
   How to get it louder then? Lower all the others.
