    Filter envelope question
When the filter cutoff is on the max value, bright sound

the filter attack on the ADSR does not do anything, why doesn't it go from dark to bright when attack is set

That depends on how you set the envelope to act. Usually you turn down the cutoff so the sound gets muffled, and you assign an envelope to the filter cutoff with some decay to "open up" the filter (say a pluck).

you can also set up up to go negative, meaning that it closes the filter with the decay setting.

i understand, so basically the filter envelope ADSR is useless without setting the envelope amount. its called AMT in reason....

will have to get used to it

    thanks Baxter

This and as long as the cut off is turned fully up.

Yes, the amount sets the modulation range for the envelope. If there is no amount, there is no envelope modulation.

The setting of your cutoff is the base setting, so it will be there when the envelope is at zero.
The envelopes value is multiplied by an "amount" control (or something similarly named), so when the envelope hits 1 (its highest peak) the cutoff will be adjusted by the amount determined by the "amount" control.

To get the effect you are looking for you will need to either set your cutoff low, set the amount to a positive value and use a slow attack with 100% sustain, or you will need to set your cutoff high, set the amount to a negative value and use a quick attack with slow decay and 0% sustain.

The main thing to remember is that the "amount" control determines how much the control is being affected and the ADSR is just controlling the shape.
