All sharing of files is discontinued. You have access to your own.

Filesonic & Wupload are the same company.
Fileserve/Uploadstation/Filejungle are the same company too.
Uploaded.to has also shut down access as well.

This is just the start. Expect a rolling outage that lasts indefinitely.

Well glad I only got the 30 day lol... easy come easy go, take what you got, be grateful for it, and go make some music! And, ya know, it's funny how technology always seems to find a way around people who try to control it for their own outsize monetary gain...

This is only temporary. These file hosting sites are freaking out about what happened to the Megaupload guys, not realizing that the Megaupload guys had their hands into a few other illegal things not related to piracy (money laundering, for one thing), which made them easy targets (not just for the US, but for their home countries). Give it a month or two. Things will settle down and it'll be back to business as usual.

    Agreed^^

Things will settle after a while, this hasn't affected me that much, I actually started using my Usenet subscription for a change, AudioZ is still better for content, will miss it if it goes. *yes*

Shame Filesonic has gone down, I had Rapidshare years ago, went tits up then Hotfile was all the rage & recently filesonic was really good. :(

Anyone recommend a host which connects to all hosts, i'm sure there was a thread about this but canne find it.

What i mean one subscirption which uses hotfile, filesonic, fileserve, wupload etc.....???????

Well, there's lots of stuff uploaded to Rapidshare despite the fact that they stopped their referrer program. Just check WarezBB for example.

People are actually sharing without revenues.

dokx1 - "People are actually sharing without revenues"

What a novel idea! Of course, that's the seed that is killing all of this right now, the financial incentives people devised to share this stuff. It's funny how the same rules continue to apply throughout the filesharing experience going back over a decade -- you don't profit from warez! As soon as that starts to happen, trouble is around the corner. I'm sure it ticks software makers off to no end to see you, me, or anyone else getting to use their work for free, but I can guaranty it gets to them even more when they know someone other than them profits from that use. That's where it really gets their goat!

Because of that, we may now see a long period of time, maybe a few years where a good deal of this goes dark. Hopefully, when things get rolling again people will be reminded once again that when you start to profit from warez, it brings nothing but problems.

I remember the first audio stuff I downloaded was from those Geocities free home pages were you had to download ten zipped parts on ten different sites to get one complete archive of 3 MB worth the data. And files were taken down very fast back then.

With P2P (Emule etc.) there was a strong incentive to share because you took and gave simultanously. Some files took weeks to complete, but it was worth it. No one would have that kind of patience nowadays I guess.

Sounds funny, but in the end I am not that unhappy if they dry out all the OCH, because downloading became its own reason for me, I have collected so much stuff the last couple of years I even cannot remember what I have and what not, downloading the same stuff two or three times.. ;) And lots of the real good stuff does not even work properly due to hastly, unfishined reverse engineering.
