ok, simple problem.
i read in a few places ( including the presonus manual) that rex file support is included with Studio One.
Not in mine it's not. i have dried importing, drag and drop. trying to load into sampler 1, NONE of these options work for me. i cannot see rex files in the built in browser, as opposed to in the manual which says it will just appear with a drop down menu for the individual slices included in the loop. NOPE..
it's driving me to drugs... can someone please help, i have looked so much and found nothing to answer this problem..

You can always get a copy of Propellerhead Recycle, great app.

 

make sure rex file type is available in your options setup (file types shown in browser), there should be 3 - rcy rex and rx2

thanks, i tried that, it does actually show the rex files in the browser, but that is all. cannot drag into project, or sample one.. i give up for today.
i actually do use recycle, a lot, which is why rex support is important to me..
i have read loads today and my head is hurting

What exact S1 version do you use, on which OS?
What you describe has once been an S1 bug (you could drag REX files or slices to the track window but they wouldn't stay there.)
You can also drag individual slices from an opened REX container to an Impact pad. Have you tried that too?

 

i did try everything. if i add rx2 as a filetype, studio one 'sees' it, but i do not get the drop down menu of the individual slices and i am unable to drag it anywhere on the arrangement.
i figured i would try and reinstall in a bit, see if it is just a quirk.

 

Maybe simply the REX Shared Library is missing?!?
That would explain why S1 sees the REX files but cannot open them!

 

there was a problem with an earlier version of S1 not being able to read and open rex files, I have the latest version (64bit) and as you can see I have no problems (see piccy above)

 

i am afraid i am yet to graduate to the 64 bit realm : )

 

i have found some settings in the hidden folder like this

<Attributes friendlyName="REX File Handler" enabled="1"/>

Mine version of studio on2 (2.6.3 x86) can open rex2 file without problem try to change same parameters, if you are in Windows the file is "Services.settings"

location:

C:\Users\*USER NAME*\AppData\Roaming\PreSonus\Studio One 2\x86

open the file with text editor and edit him

 

i had forgotten about this thread.
the solution in the end was a clean reinstall.
the irony being i don't really work much with rex files anymore : )
( has anyone tried RMV plugin? sampler and loop player all in one, looks v nice...)
