    Almost two years later I find myself using UVI Plate and Softube TSAR-1 most often.
    Honorable mentions in my collection now include FabFilter Pro-R and u-he Twangström.

    the e plugin versions are too suttle, you u have to turn up gain etc

    If anyone is looking for a unique freeze-style reverb I recommend Frostbite from AudioThing. It has multiple algorithms to choose from, but the "Spectral" one is a realtime version of Audacity's paulstretch! I used to use that all the time when learning audio processing since it created such unique sounding effects, no wonder I gravitated to Frostbite without realizing it.

    Slate VerbSuite Classics, not sure why but everytime i use this on something it does the job, well on vocals anyway :wink:

    -NI RC-24 and RC-48 (both made by softube, based on classic lexicon units)
    -Eventide Blackhole
    -2CAudio Aether

    For plate and smaller verbs
    -Lexicon (Native Reverb Bundle)
    -Valhalla vintageverb

    For realistic spaces:
    -Altiverb 7 convolution
    -SIR convolution

    Has any of you guys tried Nebula reverbs?


    At 4:25
    Sounds pretty amazing and I have no clue how I'd get that vibe with other third party software.
    Well I do technically know, UAD BX is the only other spring verb whose spring sound isn't as prominent, but fuck UAD.

    After reading through this thread I started paying close attention to my reverbs and I noticed that all of them have a tail that sounds metallic. This is very obvious with long reverbs. And it suddenly became clear what I have always disliked about my long reverbs.

    I started browsing some other forums about reverbs and came across a thread with a blind test that people could vote on. The winner of that test was Lexicon MPX Native. So I decided to give that one a spin and lo and behold: no metallic aftertaste! What a wonderfully clean and transparent reverb that is. It's now become my go-to reverb.

    Lexicon PCM Native, a more expensive bundle, does the same. Presumably better, but to my ears MPX Native is as good, and relatively more user friendly as it's only 1 plugin compared to PCM Native.

    (PS: I was using Valhalla and Toraverb 2 before, also trialed Softube TSAR-1. Definitely not bad reverbs, but no match for MPX Native if you want it clean).

    By far Nebula in my opinion, as there are so many options that sound so close to the originals.

    Interesting, and you coment is a godsend. I mentioned earlier on this thread that i use valhalla, and now i was mixing a track where a guitar was using a vintageverb on the aux and i really felt that "metallic" feeling that i couldnt really describe with words until you used it. Most of the time i use lexicon and the free bricasti and those are pretty clean (so clean that i often put some saturation if i want some more oldschool vibe) and valhalla is really very textured. As you said, not bad, but sometimes can be too much. I will be careful when i percieve some behaviour that i don't want from it.

    Sounds good, but not better than some of the freely available Spring IRs I frequently use (at least as far as I can tell from the demo video, tweaking settings sometimes reveals additional advantages / disadvantages).

    Can honestly say... every reverb sounds the same to me.
    Just a matter of adjusting the size of reverb and the dry/wet

    would you not say that at least spring reverb does indeed sound different?

    many others sound similar / related IMO too..

    Are there any people here who mix in Atmos (or any other object-based format)?
    Unfortunately, there are not very many reverbs that are "3D" capable at the moment. Therefore, I must not be picky. I mainly use Cinematic Rooms (LiquidSonics) and Stratus/Symphony 3D (Exponential Audio). Sometimes also Altiverb XL. (Since Altiverb handles maximum surround, lately I only use it for special cases and then I only apply it to a 5.1 bed.)
    Have been thinking about using multiple instances with different settings to build my own 3D reverb. Then I could also use reverb plug-ins from other companies. But that would of course involve a (significantly) greater effort. Besides, with a real 3D reverb I have the certainty that I am technically on the safe side. With several instances of a stereo reverb, on the other hand, which all have to be tailored to each other, one can quickly make a mistake. :mad:
