How would you go about describing the muddiness and unbalance of the reverb?
Are you trying to hear just the clarity or something else?
These terms can mean different things to different people. If we can describe it accurately
and objectively it will not only help ourselves, but also other people

I think maybe he's referring to a build up of frequencies in the 200-400hz range where it causes the most mud if you have too many overlapping frequencies as you move down in the frequency range.

there are so many to choose from and almost all are very good, so the best is to try a few and choose for yourself

Nothing fancy here. My go-to reverbs are Valhalla Room and Plate. I also use LexHall and 2C Aether, which is a beast if you know how to set it up.
If I want thickness, usually on drums, I throw a VNXT EMT140 in Nebula3 on a send channel.

When recording analogue synths, I usually put in the chain some light reverb from a BossRV-6. Great, cheap pedal for those who want to get out of the box.

Depending on the material I either grab FabFilter Pro-R, ValhallaVintageVerb or ValhallaPlate most of the time.

That is why the algorithm should have a sharp dip in frequency response in the middle there.
Kind of like a hole. Kind of like .. in a donut or something.

I like ableton Hybrid Reverb in L11 next to Ableton Reverb. (if only ableton 11 would be more optimzed).
I will def use the hybrid reverb with random samples - hope they add more env stuff to it later.

AAR i forgot how good this one is, you can create so easy a Gated reverb for a clap. very long reverbs, artificial ones and the variety on modes they have done wow.
It feels like the company is almsot defunct and i hope the latest R2R release will work very long after that and notes breaks with all the windows updates and stuff.

What I do every so often when I have a nice working system with lots of nice working plugs is to make a bootable clone of that system, so there is no "hope" involved in the future!

Oh! So there IS a Capitol Chambers plug!
That's cool. When the Al Schmitt plugin came out I had wondered if there was already the echo chambers in a digital format.
I really need to hear it now!

i mean, that you can install and good, because the system changes very often here, install new plugins, create files, etc - but not worth it to clone the whole system after all.

i mean AAR is since 2013 stuck on the same version, there are no support tickets in the 2-3 years answered ...

AAR code runs in Nexus 3 and other plugins.

    I know and I agree.
But I'm old school and resent having to buy new hardware, because I'm mostly macOS.

So purely regarding the subject matter of reverbs, I do actually have one main up to date system with still some unpaid-for stuff including Softube reverbs. Love 'em.
And Altiverb is on an older system, due to the dylib/openssh method, so I might sometimes jump into that one. Don't really like conv reverbs, apart from a certain one that recently came out.
And some of my Lexicon reverbs are on the older system! Some on my present system too.
One or two of the Valhallas are a no-brainer for certain lofi kinds of vibes.
(Lol. And Soothe is on a totally different architecture!)

For music with traditional 5 piece arrangements, it's not very sound-designey, so reverbs are often a subtle thing which I eq and compress TF to have control over.
Which is what I did with the stock Logic plugins for like 20 years or so.
So in that sense, even SilverVerb and Platinum Verb were useful and still are!
A short, almost slap back delay can also give a sense of ambience instead of a verb.
And mixing a delay with reverb is good on vox.

Can I get an Amen for all stock reverb plugins?!

    You are asking a question.
You could be answering with what your fave reverb plugin is. :)

Hello, I need a good spring reverb. What's your favourite spring? Don't know if I should make a new thread, maybe it's enough to just ask here...

btw my new favourite reverb is cinematic rooms from liquidsonics at the moment.

for gated Reverbs, Wave Arts Master Verb, just works awsome and its very CPU friendly.
it has an integrated Env to shape the Reverb tail, which is awsome.

I think he means a reverb from the Nebula plugin from Acustica Audio... There exist's a reverb from Soundspot called Nebula, too, but I'm 99,5% sure that he means Acustica Audio. https://www.acustica-audio.com/store/t/nebula
