I'm starting to really dig Fabfilter Pro-R. It's amazing to me how many bad reverbs there are out there. Even the heavy hitters make shit reverbs.

I'd love to go with Valhalla because I enjoy their business model but I just don't really understand the differences between the different reverbs. If I just want to get ONE reverb from them, which one would it be?

Also cool to see Reverberate 2 here @Retrolize77 . Did you ever try out Seventh Heaven or Illusion? I wonder how Reverberate 2 holds up to those.

There's not a lot of hype on it.

    agreed on both points.
so many reverbs just have an unnatural ring to them. its hard to create a natural algorithmic reverb though, and there is only so far that shaping the feedback signal will get you.
pro-R sounds really nice though i have to agree.

Yeah, I'm not sure why they do that ... but so does Lexicon, IK Multimedia and a few others. The truth is, though, all their (Valhalla) reverbs and delays sound pretty good, and you'd probably be better off having all of them.

I've heard a lot of nice-sounding room reverbs, but the hall reverbs almost always end up sounding like bad echo chambers. Pro-R does something to the early reflections where it sounds a lot more natural (at least to me!).

I find that vahalla has this unpleasant sound to it. Am i the only person in the world that doesn't like it?

They have several reverbs, and people said they were great so i used them for a while but was never very happy.
I kept fooling with the presets and controls a lot, but some others i just add a little and it sounds ok.
I never thought of it as having an "unpleasant sound" but if i keep fooling with an effect a lot i think maybe there is something not right with the dry sound or I should be adjusting something else...
Maybe so, but many other reverbs i don't do much more than choose a preset and adjust level. I might come back to tweak a little, but if can't make it sound ok pretty quickly i need an "easier" one.
Funny thing is that Fabfilter Pro R has plenty to mess with, but i will dial in something i like in a minute ... or maybe 2 if i am messing with the EQ's a lot.. and the clincher is that, if don't come back to tweak it and only change the level..that is easy.

The diffusion parameeter on reverbs attenuates the echo,it "diffuses" the early reflections. It is a critical parameter on reverbs.

Did you try the D16 Toraverb2 ? It's easy to get a quite nice reverb. After some time you have spent on it you get very cool verbs.I like it for mid reverbs, from chambers to halls.

Yes .. I tried to load a project I used it with and found it was missing from this fresh DAW machine, so I installed the latest D16 bundle and will see again :)

When ever I a/b any Valhalla reverb against Relab or Altiverb or the above mentioned Sunset Sound, it just fails. I guess I'm in the minority on that, but i just can't hear what all the fuss is about.

This new Ik plug has been rather fun(and great sounding to me) to use lately - from drum room to guitar/vocal ISO booth
