Look for presets that have pads, and automate stuff inside the preset slowly over time, or make it rhythmic. You could then bounce that out and granulize it or do the same thing with a prexisting song and paulstretch. Theres a bunch of stuff you can do once you got something going.

Yeah, I'm already doing things like that, but I must ask, what's a paulstretch?
Really though, I'm just a bit curious if there's anything out there aimed specifically for this style of sound, maybe some Omnisphere pack or something?
For example, I really like CinemorphX and Morphestra by SampleLogic. There's also some fun stuff from Audio Imperia that's pretty impressive.

Paulstretch is a free external program, which allows you to stretch sounds to super long periods of time, (hours and days) so you can get some cool slowly evolving pad sounds in wav format

Samplescience Pastoral Tones, NI Absynth, Sound Guru-The Mangle, Dronos and Psychic Modulation Phonec are some plugins I like for atmospheric and ambient stuff. Sample Magic, ModeAudio and Samplephonics have a few interesting libraries. But honestly ambient/atmospheric type stuff can be made with any plugins and any sound with the right processing (delays, reverbs, granulizers, etc) including your flatulence

  10. Now I understand. What sometimes I like to do is to record a sound, be it a sample, pad or note and put it through a dense and long reverb minus the attack. It can then be further manipulated with more reverb(s), filters and /or delays and panning. This can make a nice bed or even sliced to your heart's content to create percussive strikes. It is fun fun fun.

Kontakt and field recording or just make your presets in synths, render and put into kontakt.

theres the obvious choices zebra, absynth, and Omni

but I prefer twisting a sound into an atmos myself. use your daw, its fun
I start with a single guitar note, then something like this

or add some arp, delay or verb
    voila!
save your creation, because you might not know how you got there

another one, less known is vst zone UFO. i love that one

for me, absynth is the best soft synth and omnisphere is the best rompler. kontakt can be very good with the right library. alchemy and zebra are also outstanding.
