    Hello friends,

after A LOT OF HASSLE I was able to upgrade firmware of my PreSonus Faderport Classic from v1.0 to v1.45
(I write this thread as info I may need later)

    what did not work:
IF there is ANY USB 3.0 port or MIDI device on PC/Mac, firmware update fails before starting
IF Windows isn't 64bit at least Windows 7 with all the Service Pack 1 and platform update bullsh!t, application fails to even start
    :wtf:

    what finally worked:
I had to boot up my old unused hackintosh based on HP 8200 Tower running MacOS El Capitan 10.11.6

    application which worked:
"old" PreSonus Universal Control version 2.8.0.48221 macOS x64 (built on 5th July 2018)

    plot twist?
in order to successfully perform firmware update, only computers with no USB 3.0 ports are at all usable, which means 2nd generation Intel Sandy Bridge or older - I guess Mac Mini or MacBook Pro from 2011 and earlier would work too,
BUT simultaneously requires 64bit fully updated Windows 7 or newer, or recent MacOS versions
    :deep_facepalm:

    resume:
PreSonus as a company lost no less than half reputation in my eyes, not buying any interface from them anytime soon!

I also have Faderport Classic. I remember updating its firmware years ago [~7?] and since then it works perfectly so I didn't bother updating it any further. I may try this new driver. I didn't know it existed. Thanks for the heads up.

I also simply hate it when in order to install the driver your W7 has to be updated with platform update and SHA encyripting update which have nothing to do with audio. I read that platform update actually makes things worse for audio usage. I can't remember exactly why, but I know it installs some new services. So stupid. :(

Latest drivers for my TC Electronic StudioKonnekt 48 wouldn't install without those, too. I also have a RME HDSP card and never had any of these problems with it. I suspect bad, rookie, or just not knowledgeable enough developers at work here [Presonus and TC]. :(
