FabFilter has updated all plug-ins, improving compatibility with macOS Sierra along with fixes for various other issues that have surfaced since the last update in February 2016. FabFilter recommends all customers to update to the latest plug-in versions.

Changes:

• Pro-R: Fixed a bug in the VST3 plug-in that caused long reverb tails to be cut off after 10 seconds after the input became silent.
• Pro-R: The Post EQ and Decay Rate EQ band selection state is now restored correctly when undoing and redoing changes.
• Saturn: Fixed a bug that caused Saturn to work incorrectly with HQ mode enabled at sample rates of 192 kHz and higher.
• Pro-G: The side-chain level meter around the Threshold knob now correctly shows the level after the side chain level parameters in the Expert section have been applied.
• Pro-Q 2, Pro-R: Improved mouse wheel behavior on Mac with a Magic Mouse to avoid unwanted mouse wheel changes after dragging a curve in the display (especially with high/low-cut curves where this could change the curve slope). On Windows, fixed a problem that made it hard to change the Q with the mouse wheel while dragging (e.g. in solo mode in Pro-Q 2).
• Twin 2, Volcano 2, Timeless 2, Saturn: Fixed a bug in the AAX and RTAS plug-ins with tempo/beat synchronization when using a signature other than 4/4.
• Linked control changes using the Alt key now also work when using the mouse wheel.
• Fixed a bug that caused text with multiple lines (such as the help hint label) to miss the last line of text on macOS Sierra (10.12).
• Improved mouse wheel behavior on Windows with stepped parameters, e.g. on drop-down buttons.
• Added a workaround for a bug in macOS Sierra (10.12) that prevented the help file from opening correctly. The help file is now displayed in a web browser rather than the Help Viewer.
• Fixed an issue in the AAX plug-ins that could cause loss of existing automation data when writing automation in Automation Preview mode, for example when creating or deleting bands in Pro-Q 2.
• Fixed a bug in the AAX plug-ins that caused parameter values that are very close to the default value to remain at the default value when loading a session.
• Updated Windows help file to display correctly on High DPI monitors.
• Fixed a bug in the VST3 plug-ins when restoring a session in FL Studio 12 using a custom display scaling factor such as 125%: the plugin window could end up at the wrong size.
• Pro-Q 2, Pro-R, Pro-MB: Fixed a possible crash when controlling Band State parameters via MIDI Learn.
• Pro-MB: Fixed a bug that caused a band's gain to be displayed incorrectly after ending a drag operation while the display range was being animated.
• Volcano 2: In Pro Tools, a mono-to-stereo version of the AAX and RTAS plug-ins is now available, in addition to the existing mono and stereo versions.
• Small bug fixes and improvements.

The updated plug-ins are fully compatible with previous versions, and free for existing FabFilter customers. The latest versions and 30-day trials are available for download now at www.fabfilter.com/download.

System requirements on Windows are either Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista or XP and a VST 2/3 host or Pro Tools, or Mac OS X 10.6.8 or higher with Intel processor, and an Audio Units host, VST 2/3 host, or Pro Tools. Both 32-bit and 64-bit hosts are supported.

2016-12-20 ■ New bug-fix update for all plug-ins

We have just released a new minor update for all FabFilter plug-ins, which fixes compatibility issues with macOS Sierra (10.12) on the new MacBook Pro (Late 2016) with Touch Bar. It also solves some other small issues that surfaced after the last update. We recommend all customers to update to the latest plug-in versions.

• Fixed issues with macOS Sierra on the new MacBook Pro (Late 2016) with Touch Bar, that could cause the host to become unresponsive or crash after exiting Full Screen mode or closing a plug-in window.
• Pro-Q 2 en Pro-R: Fixed a bug that made it impossible to change the Q when dragging with the Cmd/Ctrl key held down right after creating a new band.
• Pro-Q 2 en Pro-R: Fixed a small issue that could cause an incorrect Q change direction while dragging with the Cmd/Ctrl key held down.
• Pro-Q 2: Fixed a crash when using spectrum grab if there are no unused EQ bands available anymore.
• Twin 2 en One: Fixed a bug that could cause polyphonic portamento to be ignored when exporting or freezing tracks.

2017-03-13 ■ New bug-fix update for all plug-ins

New features in FabFilter Pro-Q 2

We have improved Pro-Q 2's EQ Match feature so you can save the input spectrum as a reference spectrum. When opening EQ Match, you now have various choices to use as the reference: a previously saved reference spectrum, the main plug-in input or the side chain input. This makes it much easier to set up and use EQ Match.

Another cool new feature is the Permanent Spectrum Grab mode: click and hold in the spectrum area until the spectrum freezes and turns blue. You can now grab multiple peaks in the frozen spectrum, unlike the regular Spectrum Grab mode which only allows you to grab and adjust a single peak. Just click once on the background to exit Permanent Spectrum Grab mode.

Last but not least, the frequency scale at the bottom of the interface now displays the frequency under the mouse cursor if you hover over the display or move the mouse slowly. If the piano display is enabled, the key under the mouse cursor is highlighted and its note number is shown. You can turn this on or off by clicking Show Frequency On Hover in the Help menu.

Bug-fixes and improvements for all FabFilter Pro plug-ins

• Pro-Q 2, Pro-R: Added a workaround for a bug in Ableton Live on Mac that could cause the Q parameter for a band to be reset to its minimum value when dragging it around in the AU plug-in version of Pro-Q 2.
  
• Pro-C 2, Pro-DS, Pro-G, Pro-MB, Pro-Q 2: Added a workaround for a bug in Ableton Live that caused latency compensation to work incorrectly when loading a session that sets the parameters such that the plug-in doesn't have latency, in combination with a default preset that does introduce latency. This only occurred with the VST plugin format and caused Live to use the latency from the default preset.
  
• Pro-C 2, Pro-DS, Pro-G, Pro-L: Fixed a bug that caused the plug-in interface to use more memory than needed if the display was not enabled.
  
• Pro-C 2: Updated the AAX plug-in to enable the dynamics display on the Avid S6 console.
  
• Improved Avid S6 page tables mappings in the AAX plug-ins, now more closely following Avid's conventions for a better workflow.

This update is free for existing users, and we recommend everyone to upgrade to the latest plug-in versions.

Seriously though, these new features on Pro-Q look freaking sweet. A while back I thought about selling it because i needed quick cash and I have any number of EQs from Live/Cubase, Acon, Izotope, Melda, etc. but Fabfilter is the only one that's likely to sell quickly and for a decent price. Glad I hung onto it.

2017-03-23 ■ FabFilter Pro-Q updated to version 2.11

After releasing an update for all FabFilter Pro plug-ins earlier this month, we discovered a bug in Pro-Q 2 that would cause a crash when dragging a band to the far left side of the display. This has now been fixed in version 2.11.

This update is free for existing Pro-Q 2 users, and we recommend everyone to update to this version as soon as possible.

To update your existing Pro-Q 2 plug-in, just download the new Pro-Q 2 installer and run it. No need to uninstall first or enter your license key again.
