I installed a FabFilter VST plugin and now after 30 days and it's giving me issues. It sometimes outputs only silence until I re-load it or change settings. It seems that the patch only worked partially.

So I would like to completely remove the plugin and all FabFilter data from my computer. I already tried uninstalling it and deleting the FabFilter entries in the registry, but it didn't help. If I reinstall the plugin (legit installer) it says the evaluation period expired. So obviously there is still data about the original install date somewhere. But where?

 

Install it, then try Revo Uninstaller.

 

Delete all FabFilter folders and restart your PC.

C:\Program Files (x86)\FabFilter
C:\Users\yourName\Documents\FabFilter
C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\FabFilter

These folders FabFilter are only available if you have 64 or 32 bit installed.
C:\Program Files\Vstplugins

sounds like you got some older mediocre cracked release?
Fabfilter has a hardcoded timebomb which triggers even if you're offline, so instead of uninstalling things, find better release or buy legit (if you don't buy, don't bother with legit installers)

 

I tried all that plus I removed the Fabfilter leftover entries in the registry, but it's still the same.

Wherever that data is located, it must be with a different name. They obviously don't want people resetting the trial period.

Good to know. For now I'm not looking at installing anything new, I just want to remove this old data.

1.Uninstall previous versions.
If you installed release by other groups,
-> run your DAW and scan plugins.
-> Confirm 0 FabFilter plugins are installed to your computer.
-> At least, R2R reversed last releases
by VR (2021.05) and MORiA (2021.x) and confirmed the bad-crack.
2.Install plugins.
3.Choose a product and generate a license.
The license starts from "Product" and ends with character "=".
4.Run plugins and authorize.
5.Enjoy!

Thanks. Yes, that was helpful. The registry log showed that the data is located in: HKEY_USERS\some numbers_Classes\CLSID\.
There are also folders that belong to other software in there, but the Fabfilter ones are without any subfolders and without any names. Deleting them resets the trial to 30 days.

 

This may sound totally ridiculous, but have you erased the contents of your computer's trash folder. The reason I say that is I just yesterday completely uninstalled Repro-5 after a few years as it was crashing my DAW and started behaving badly (other products from the same dev had no such issues). Even though it was gone, after I re-read with the add feature of FL Studio it was still showing up as a new plugin and when I dragged it to start it up it would actually play the startup patch but the GUI was blank with a warning from u-he that there was an issue with the plugin. It freaked me out as I imagined this scenario an impossibility. I searched for anything that could cause this then dumped the trash. Problem solved.
