I am in the process of editing in EZdrummer 2 and working toward making a custom EZX. any tips would be appreciated. so far it will only work with the r4e 2.1.3 version. but I had edited the imagery and was also able to save my work as it's own EZX expansion. here is what I have so far

I tried it with the most recent r2r release and im guessing since it has a custom name that is why it will not load without registration.

 

Does it change the sound also?

 

Far as i'm guessin

Toontrack encode their samples in a proprietary format.
The software is not a sample manipulator/player that you can load your own samples etc.
The software will only read files encoded in that format far as I am aware.
Only way to change the sound/samples would be say to use Drum Replacement software such as Drumagog etc or something else that would read incoming midi and replace sound etc.

 

As far as the sound goes im still working on that. Im hoping that I can get this worked out to the point where major teams like r2r would include it in their next keygen or an option for a user EZX. the older EZXs use raw wav files in several folder but the files are encrypted somehow because they cannot be opened in a DAW or in a media player. the newer EZXs sounds are stored in obw files. Im still trying to figure out how to make each EZX read each others samples.

 

Not sure if you'll be able to add custom samples without encoding them the same way yourself. :/

 

Yes, does seem to be the case unless I can find the restrictions in the scripts. but there are soooo many samples in EZD to move around and you can manipulate the mixer through scripted texts

 

Yeah you could probably make custom kits out of existing samples (at least).

 

Yeah is an interesting idea.Think some people have tried this using using existing samples like AoN has said.
Some I think even re-named the existing samples to use as encoded in the same way but whether this worked or the file name etc needed recognition I don't know.
Looks real nice and personally I think it would be great idea to have some software like where you could manipulate the GUI and add custom samples (don't say Kontakt & all that .)
Would be interesting even tho many companies don't like the idea for their own reasons & there probably some tools like that floating about.
You could I guess use existing samples and then make your own mixer settings etc enabling you too drastically alter the sound which with a different GUI would in effect make it a semi-custom kit of sorts.
Would be cool if you could also layer samples etc and mess with it a bit more than you can at the moment.
