It is a design flaw of the CPU memory bus controller. I'm unaware if it was fixed in AM5, but as far as I know, all AM4 chips are affected by it, some people will experience more, while some experience it less.

It didn't take a week for my first PC to have that, while the second PC only did that once last month after a couple years running fine.

The way you can confirm it happens is because every USB device will disconnect at the same time, but it's most visible for external drives because Windows explorer will pop up again as if you reconnected. The way it feels is similar to a stutter in the system. Pretty annoying issue, I hope they fixed it already in the newest CPUs.

Edit: looked around and it seems to still be happening on AM5 CPUs as well. Same as always, some people have it, others don't. It seems AMD will never figure this out, and you're basically playing lottery on whether or not your USB devices will trigger this issue.

 

had the occasional disconnect and reconnect problem on a 7950x3d even with a powered hub. only thing that helped was lowering the ram clock a couple of notches. now rock solid @ 5000mhz

also like 10 percent of copied data were corrupted even if not disconnecting, crc errors in some rars, truncated jpegs and mp3s. without any error messages while copying. took me a while to find out, months of downloads affected.
i use teracopy now, it verifies all data transfers.
