I really dont know if this is a right category for this question but I decided to write down anyway. I decided to extend my PC dispay to Laptop screen to speed up my workflow, I connect PC (DVI) to laptop (Hdmi) then the PC don't detect new device the Laptop does that but I dont need to extend the laptop display, but when I try to extend my laptop to see if this works nothing happens. How to extend my PC disptay to laptop if its possible and do I need HDMI to HDMI?

This might work with nVidia Optimus, which has to be present on both systems (nVidia graphics with Optimus support) and the HDMI must be wired for both in and out. Also, both devices must be running and booted into OS with the correct drivers and configuration. There are other limitations to this as well.
GIYF, though the "right way" to do it, is always with dedicated monitor.

Yeah, very few laptops have actual video-IN capability. Like @Andrew said a software solution using your local network will overcome this.

Zonescreen doesn't support Aero so if your on Win 8 or higher use something else.

 

you cannot do that. as you've seen it wont work You need another monitor or tv with video input to display your pc
alls your doing now is hooking up a video out to a video out! no good

 

Yeah, I was looking to do this before but to an android tablet to use as a mirrored or extended touchscreen display. There are software solutions.

I've installed Spacedesk it worked but when I open Fl studio it dont work when I try to move the mixer to the second screen nothing happens but it work on Cubase and its kinda slow
