    lets assume we have
    • ../KitA/DB909.wav
    and
    • ../KitB/DB909.wav

    files differ

what is the logic behind chosing the right one for logic/exs? as far as i remember logic once told the difference by inspecting samplelength or filesize but it doesnt seem to be the case anymore. nor does the parent folder seem to matter but the path as whole.

once i was able to feed the sampler with a symlink to a file named differently, what caused relinking to a new name inside the exs patch, storing the updated name permanently. eg: exs expecting file_a was fed with a symlink named file_a linkting to file_b, this caused change of reference from file_a to file_b inside the exs patch. this was pretty neat (logic pro 8/9?)

it seems like handling samples got pretty unpredictable and the multi choice window doesnt tell anything informative about alternative samples, except their paths

how to handle samples "exs safe" without using unique names for dozens of dupes all about the place?
