This morning it came across the following research on Internet trends.

The end of LOL is nigh The classic internet slang term, which stands for "laugh out loud," has been replaced by the likes of "haha" or emojis to indicate internet humour. A recent study by Facebook found that - of the people who use such expressions online - only 1.9 per cent used LOL, while 51 per cent used "haha".

The source research is Facebook; maybe this is a broad indication of something related with their users.
Personally, if I had to choose btw “lol” and “haha”, I think I would go for the classico, although, first I would also ask what the hell is so funny. That´s my bitter side.Hehe.
(I feel like weird expressing amusement )

LOL will never end, i think this study is farce! Also i'm pretty sure they didnt take into account that lol is actually a dutch word that actually mean 'fun', therefor it can never fully disappear.
