The stupid thing for most passive solutions today is that they all build in mini itx or other miniature shit, only because apple ? makes anything small (and hot)?
How about a very BIG thing with a lot of air flow and surface ?!

I wonder if there is a supplier who offers parts like heatpipes ( as i recall they are out there) and the block you fit on teh cpu, to build a custom cooler , <need research>

One more thing to consider: some people think it's best to put the heatsink into a normal PC case or no case at all. Both options are not optimal since there is no airflow created around the heatsink.
The CPU can be about 2°C cooler if the heatsink is mounted in a case where one wall + the backside + the ceiling are perforated with many openings. Like these ones for example:

Hot air will escape through the top, creating a lower air pressure inside the case, thus cold air will flow in from the sides.
I tried to find the source (there was a youtube video where someone did measurements) but i cannot find it now. :dunno:

As posted before in this thread, I have a configuration like this for 10 years now, and I am more than happy with it :break:

I wonder how much effect will have a housing which has an opening at the bottom and top NOT the sides.
That way it should a natural airflow since hot air goes up and suck in cold air at the bottom.

How much effect has the chimney effect on cooling. Will it create a better airflow than a computer without any case. Ohh boy I would love to do a test sequence on such kind of stuff

I wonder why people always build tiny things, the airflow shoudl be much better with a BIG housing
