    1 :Definition of modulation : In music, modulation is the change from one tonality (tonic, or tonal center) to another. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modulation_(music)

    3/ About modal interchange and borrowed chords : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borrowed_chord
    4/ "Inutil paisagem" harmonic analysis can be resumed to these chords, except for the chord in a second bar.
    5/ If you pay attention to the melody, you notice that it stays diatonic for the most of it except in bar 2 : Whole note that is a chromatic approach to the next note.In bar 10 another chromatic approach lasting a 16th note . in bar 14 , the flat 3rd of a key that is absolutely not suggesting modulation either. So dude , tell me if it is so common to find songs that modulates, without having also the melody suggesting that the tune modulates ??? Coming back to ATTYA, the melody clearly implies changing tonal center. "ATTYA" is a great tune example that can be used for analysis because it contains lots of devices that you can find in lots of tunes. One of them is the "power" of 3rds . You play the melody of the first 8 bars just with the bass, and you hear the harmony. That was your free lesson, but from your words and attitude i strongly doubt that it will take you somewhere, because people like you prefer to stay vague, and attack on a personal level.     you are ok as a musician, just do not know about the theory, which is not a problem by itself, just gets a probleme when someone pretends knowing about it when one does not. If it is your case keep playing and shut the f... about theory, harmony, and this kind of things, because the way you talk about it clearly shows that it is way beyond your understanding.

    A Lydian #5, B Melodic minor and D Dorian are utilized - a cycle of 4ths (dominants) is built around the last one.

    1/The version that you put online is in Ab.
    2/Saying "Inutil Paisagem is in Db" does not mean anything because anytune can be played in different keys. It could have been OK saying "the original key of this tune is"... "The new real book 1" version is written in C, In the old real book it is written in Eb, Elis&Tom take it in Ab.
    If you hear Db in this Elis &Tom version that is your problem, you may also hear voices or whatever.
    3: The rest "A Lydian #5, B Melodic minor and D Dorian are utilized" does not means anything in this context ! No one talks like this. Yes you have a cycle of extended dominants, you could notice this. You know something ? Not knowing is never a problem, because we all start, and the more we know the more we discover to learn. Specially in the musical universe, there is and has been some giants since centuries.
    But the one who is not honest with himself and pretend to know, this one's attitude is a huge problem. He will never learn because he closes himself.     Double fault :
    1: What you say.does not mean anything : It could have been OK saying "instead of a C7 in measure .(whatever) they play a E7#9b9" .
    2: It is not the case the band plays a C7b9 sound, and the second time the melody is sung you can hear the piano (same measure of the tune)
    doing some voicings based on symmetrical dim scale, but absolutely not related to E7. Related to C7 : C7,Eb7,Gb7,A7. (b5,b9,#9 nat13 call this scale how you want it has lots of names, the names are not important, the sound is. Instantanely recognizable by ear with little training.
    But the one that hears Db instead of Ab, and E7 instead of C7 might have a "little trouble" with this , as with anything related to musical craft.

    Oly, have you considered creating a sub-category in Music education called THEORY? Perhaps even 3? This is short considering... It certainly will not remove every disagreement that is not possible. But it will put threads like this in a place where people who want analysis threads in their own category and away from performance threads and people who want to see it put into action by the author will look elsewhere.

    It also gives forum people the ability to redirect or point others to this area correctly, or like you have moved some threads into humor, moderators can also move incorrect music education categorization into theory as well, or where relevant as needed.

    1. Theory, 2. Theory put into practice by author demonstration, and practising/practice that is, 3. Instrument technique and teaching it, have different approaches and they're interrelated but nonetheless, different.
