Exception to the "bass should always be in mono" rule?

    In case you have a synth bass line with tons of upper harmonics and distortion, you can use a mid/side EQ plugin such as ProQ/ProQ2 by Fabfilter, create a hi-pass band and set it to "Side" then set it around 150/200hz or so and see how that sounds. There's also dedicated plugins like Monofilter4 from NuGen which can set to mono a specific frequency area of anything you feed through it.

    Try the bass plug in in the JackJosephPuig collection (JJP) in WAVES. There is a control that allows you to widen and narrow the apparent width of the bass. Mixes can get tricky when you start doing that, but manageable. Once you widen it out, it may change the apparent levels of other instruments/tracks.

    i would use a nice saturator plugin to bring out upper harmonics, and of course, compress the hell outta it
