I understand that it is not easy to speak about this avoiding political considerations, but please, do not drive this thread into the usual political useless fight, so avoid political content. Thank you.
Funny thing is that its always people who are big in AI themselves that try to demonize it. (I.e. musk etc..) Right now its all about gatekeeping. Trying to make the gullible masses afraid of it so so they WANT the politic to ban or over regulate it to a point where the normal people cannot profit from it anymore. It will come anyway the only question is will it be available for the public to profit from it or will it be for big corps who can exploit it and gatekeep the public from it.. Edit: i havent watched this particular video. But thats my opinions on watching and some others / reading about it. Also i.e. chatgpt is like having access to an assistant (or a pool of assistants) that any regular human beeing would never in his life be able to afford. Which is something anybody with a lot of recources of money has and which is on of the secrets why rich people get the money they make. What i feel is already happenening: It seems to me that theyre already dumbing down chatgpt at the moment. Stuff like programming and a lot of other stuff Is not as refined as it had been weeks ago.. Aside from all the bookpromo's and dicksucking, I think I've just listened to two guys describing the plot of The Matrix.
Glad we are talking about this, we touched upon this in another thread and my opinion changed drastically as the thread progressed and more information I took into consideration, worst thing one can do at this point is to think he knows enough about whole issue and render whole thing as nothing to worry about.
TBH, Musk isn't actually big in A.I, he spoke against it cause he was butthurt about Open A.I and Microsoft but when it comes to I.T he knows almost nothing, case point he asked to print code and valued developers according to how many lines they wrote..
Sorry about political comment. What I meant to say was that according to the head of Google (according to this ex employee) as long as there is a profit in AI they will not be able to stop the project for fear of the competition getting ahead. So that is the problem, the profit motive, not AI itself. If this is too political, perhaps the OP should be taken down as I am just repeating what was said.
If the musicians like you and me will lose their job as musicians due AI, is then such discussion a policy? PS Screenwriters already lose, maybe, we're the next ones
The problem with discussing politics is not discussing politics itself, but rather our inability to tolerate the opinions of others, which often leads to arguments. From my point of view, we could have extensive discussions about politics if we respected each other's opinions. One can disagree and present arguments as to why they don't agree with something said about politics, but it often ends up in insults and offenses. This always happens in the realm of politics, football, religion, etc. It is precisely because these topics are intertwined with strong ideals that many people cannot tolerate the opinions of others and conflicts arise. In summary, if we could learn to respect each other's ideals and opinions, we could have discussions about any topic. This is my humble opinion.
Dude this happens everywhere, on social media, in a gathering of friends, within families. It is a problem that lies within us as human beings, as we struggle to accept the idea of others. I love freedom of expression, but ironically, for there to be freedom of expression, there must be rules. Without rules, everything would be a mess. Imagine the streets without traffic lights, everyone wanting to go at the same time. The traffic light is a rule that says, 'Okay, you go first, and then the others go.' Unfortunately or fortunately, rules exist to guarantee the freedom of each individual.
All I can think about is the Terminator movies and that fiction is becoming reality. Because humans are lazy and dumb and they will let the machines control everything. Last edited: Jun 6, 2023
I think he is exaggerating about how fast this is going but I roughly agree with the points. Just browsed it though. Almost the only thing I think is crystal clear is the need for this famous big table meeting to try to regulate and prepare for the (bad) things AI can bring. Losing jobs, delictives deep-fakes to name the most obvious and the tip of the iceberg.
