    Fucking Amazing Vintage Drum Machine Emus --- FREE ! (PC Only)

    Seriously, from the audio samples provided these replicate the classic machines much better than the D16 group, or anyone else for that matter ! Great Synthesis and Sample Hybrids !
    These are PC (Windows) only unfortunately (I am a Mac OS user), so I can't enjoy the fruits --- but dayam, just had to pass this along to you folks (for those that didn't know).

    *off topic

    If you're considering running windows on that mac...........

    vmware fusion. screw paralells, when I was still working as an I.T. manager for a company, I had 2 different co workers request for me to install parallels on their imacs, against my recomendations, I might add. They both had me uninstall it within a month, and go with first suggestion I made. I do my homework and consult the book of knowledge (google), reading everything posted by peers. While, they fell for the shiny sales propaganda. VMware Fusion :wink:

    Thanks for sharing these. As if I dont have enough of the roland drum sounds already. But I do have an affinity (more like addiction) for these sort of things.

    Darn, thats rather good stuff indeed!

    A little verb, some EQ, and you should be able to use those in nearly any electronic track you want! :)

    Good find, thanks for sharing...

    Most definitely.

    You can even do a simple direct comparison by hooking the D16s MIDI out to the MARVINs MIDI ins, firing off the D16s sequencer, and then solo-toggling the audio outs.

    (MIDI is largely key-compatible...enough to compare and see that the MARVINs definitely win.)

    My secret weapon for LM-1:

    Page: http://www.vstplanet.com/Instruments/VST_Drums4.htm (scroll down to JM-1)

    DirectDownload: http://www.vstplanet.com/VST_instruments/Drums/juns_factory_-_jm-1.zip

    I have excellent LinnDrum samples in my AddictiveDrums Reel Machines Kit, (best fuckin DrumMachine sample pack i ever had), still i like to use the JM-1 plug sometimes as the samples used in it are quite different (and very good too) and the Toms are just the shit. (Remember Pat Benatars Love Is A Battlefield? Thats the ones...)

    Unsure about EMU, but I do know about the Apogee products, more so the Duet used on an iMac and a MacBook. This MacBook is used 2-3 times weekly for a DJ residency slot at 2 different nightclubs. It will work on a Mac running Windows 7 in VMWare Fusion. Windows will see it as a generic sound card. It is my suspicion that the Duet could work in a normal Windows environment if someone would write a "proper" driver.

    but please dont base a purchase on my experiences alone. Consult the book of knowledge :wink:

    Do you have experience with the Synthestra ver. 1.0 synth?

    What would you say it favors?

    I knew the JM-1 - thanks -, but there is no individual tuning pots for each voice like the real machine (remember the famous detuned rimshot on Prince's 1999), and if you try to manually detune the samples, they will never sounds like the real deal.

    The LinnDrumm is not the LM-1. In fact it's another name for the LM-2 : "A cheaper version of the LM-1 was released in 1982 called the LM-2 (or simply LinnDrum). It cost around $3,000 and not all of its voices were tunable, making it less desirable than the original LM-1." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drum_machine

    The best LM-1 samples I've ever found came from... Wikipedia :wow: : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linn_LM-1

    Yeah, i knew that of course. It just didnt come out quite the way i intended.

    What i meant was simply that i sometimes prefer using the JM-1 (because it sounds different) even though the LinnDrum samples in Reel Machines would be qualitatively better while serving the purpose as well.

    Will check out the wikipedia samples. Hopefully its not the pack i already have...

    PS:

    If anyone wants to drive Tromine GT with the sequencer of d16s Nepheton, heres the required notemap:

    Code:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

    <DrumMap application="Nepheton" ver="1.1" name="For Tromine GT">
    <assign midiKey="36" instrument="BD"/>
    <assign midiKey="38" instrument="SD"/>
    <assign midiKey="41" instrument="LT"/>
    <assign midiKey="47" instrument="MT"/>
    <assign midiKey="50" instrument="HT"/>
    <assign midiKey="75" instrument="CL"/>
    <assign midiKey="37" instrument="RS"/>
    <assign midiKey="70" instrument="MA"/>
    <assign midiKey="39" instrument="CP"/>
    <assign midiKey="56" instrument="CB"/>
    <assign midiKey="49" instrument="CY"/>
    <assign midiKey="46" instrument="OH"/>
    <assign midiKey="42" instrument="CH"/>
    </DrumMap>

    Copy into empty textfile, then save file as For Tromine GT.npdrmap

    Load into Nepheton via Options menu.

    Note: All labels match exactly, meaning BD/SD/OH/etc in Nepheton is BD/SD/OH/etc in Tromine GT.

    Exception: LC, MC and HC have no function since Tromine GT does not have individual channels for Congas and Toms.

    Hence only the Toms channels have been assigned.

    Rest such as LaserGun is unneeded anyway and therefore not assigned either.

    Notemaps for the others when i find the time to do them...
