    Hey guys.
Do you want to watch this short YouTube tutorial please?

It's really the best snare roll tutorial I've seen.

He Triggers the snare with the Euclidean function of the note Repeater in Bitwig.

Does someone knows a good similar VST plugin or Device in Ableton?
There are also good Snare devices, also the Snare VST which provide the other functions of the snare Plugin.

I'm new to the Sequencer Topic and the market is so full of sequencer VST and Ableton Devices.
Would be nice to archive this snare roll, also Drum Sequencing :)

Maybe someone could push me in the right direction

    Thank you very much.

You're diving into a really exciting (and sometimes overwhelming) part of music production — sequencing and modulation. The Euclidean sequencing concept you saw in Bitwig’s Note Repeater is especially powerful for making interesting, evolving rhythms like snare rolls.

Let me break down what you saw, and then show you some VSTs and Ableton-native tools that can help you replicate or even expand on that approach.

    ✅ What’s Happening in Bitwig:
    • Euclidean function: This distributes a number of "hits" as evenly as possible across a step sequence.

    • Note Repeater: Likely triggering snare rolls with increasing density or rhythmically evolving patterns.

    • Snare Plugin: Probably shaping the tone or behavior of the snare (could be physical modeling, transient shaping, etc.).
️ In Ableton Live – How To Replicate This:
    Euclidean Rhythm Options in Ableton
Here are some ways to get Euclidean-style sequencing:

    1. [Euclidean Sequencer Pro (Max for Live device)]
    • Powerful Euclidean rhythm generator.

    • Lets you set the number of steps, hits, rotation, and more.

    • Great for evolving snare rolls and polyrhythmic patterns.

    • ✅ Requires Max for Live (included in Suite).
Available via Isotonik Studios or Max for Live community

    2. [Alexkid’s Sequencer Bundle (Max for Live)]
    • Has a Euclidean sequencer and other pattern-based rhythm tools.

    • Very musical and performance-friendly.
    3. Tritone - Euclidean MIDI Sequencer (Free M4L)
    • Lightweight, simple, and free.

    • Just connect it to a drum rack or your snare VST.
    Alternatives to Note Repeater
Ableton doesn’t have a built-in Note Repeater exactly like Bitwig, but you can mimic the behavior using:

    1. Arpeggiator + Note Length + Velocity Devices
    • Stack them in a rack, set to trigger repeated notes at fast rates.

    • Add LFOs or envelopes for increasing rate or velocity (for roll intensity).
    2. Buffer Shuffler or Beat Repeat (for glitchy rolls)
    • Add randomness or variations to the repeated snare.
    Snare Plugins or Drum Engines
If you're looking for snare-specific tools:

    VST Options:
    • SonicCharge MicroTonic – Drum synth with fast sequencing and pattern morphing.

    • Audio Damage Tattoo / Axon – Drum synths with internal sequencers and some Euclidean features.

    • XO by XLN Audio – Excellent for browsing samples and sequencing with groove.

    • Freakshow Industries - Mishby (for fun sound destruction).
    Ableton Drum Devices:
    • Drum Rack + Simpler: Just drop in your snare sample and shape it.

    • Collision or Drum Synths: Create synthetic snares with resonators.

    • Transient Shapers / Saturators: To make your snare cut.
    Tips for Newcomers to Sequencing
    • Start with a drum rack + Max for Live Euclidean device.

    • Explore using Automation / LFOs / Envelopes to modulate rate or velocity for rolls.

    • Use probability in Ableton 11+ MIDI clips to introduce subtle randomness.

    • Stack devices: e.g., Arpeggiator ➝ Velocity ➝ Instrument.
✅ Suggested Starter Setup in Ableton:
    1. Drum Rack with a few snares or snare samples.

    2. M4L Euclidean Sequencer (e.g. Euclidean Pro).

    3. Arpeggiator (for quick note repeats).

    4. Add Velocity device to shape dynamics.

    5. Automate or modulate rate / hits for roll intensity.

Didn't watch the video, but my go-to combined grid & Euclidean sequencer is HY-RPE2. HY/Hyakken has a bunch of sequencers if RPE2 isn't your cup of tea.

If you use Suite then Drum Articulate by Max for Cats. Also if you use Suite then you already have a bunch of sequencers and midi effects that have an euclidean implementation in your devices. Not all are in the Core install. Some needs to be downloaded off the Ableton site.

Falcon 3 has a nice Euclidean sequencer called (you guessed it) Euclidean Drum Sequencer. Generate button on the bottom right corner will create a midi file and let you drag and drop it directly onto a channel in your DAW.
