Regarding Arcane .... if you can do the job.... lets say K4.1 brilliant .... are you sure people with that old version has an OS/RAM enough for loading this lib at all? Im not!

 

K5.0.3 is dated May 2012 - at that time 16GB was just about standard and you could see 32GB in some desktops. Arcane is no big library, RAM-wise. And even under x86, more than 4GB can be addressed through RAMDisk - if NI had implemented the simpliest thing ever, to use DirectIO/SCSI access instead of RAM, they wouldn't have to overcome 2GB barriers and the platform would be memory independent.
Yes, such functionality requires 3rd party software, but telling a program to write onto disk instead of RAM is no big task. Such feature would erase theoretical barrier between 32bit and 64bit, but that's too much to wish. *yes*

About HEX editing - I've examined the structure of several NKIs before. The difference is there and it might be difficult to do jump from 5.4.1 to 4.1. Where it might be possible is from 5.1.x and 5.2.x to 5.1.0 and theoretically 5.4.x to 5.3.x, though getting around the snapshot header will get tricky

 

RAM is - like it or not - the issiue! NI took that road, as everyone else. You cant change that, not even with an app! So......
