Well Ive own an eleven rack for quite some time and its what i primarily use to record vocals and guitars,anyway this might sound very stupid but can dust actually damage my Eleven Rack ?
I haven't experienced any problems yet but i just looked under the holes of the left $ right side of the eleven rack with a flashlight and there's a lot of dust, i want to clean it of course but i don't know how and I'm afraid i could damage it, but is it necessary to clean it ?

 

the only problem would be heat buildup due to dust restricting airflow inside, heat damage will kill most electronic devices. Easiest way to remove dust is to use air to blow it away, remove the covers then use some sort of air compressor to gently blow the dust off, do this outside, you do not want to be blowing that dust all over your studio and into other equipment

if you do not have access to an air compressor you can buy an aerosol can type from places like Maplins

computers are definitely one device which needs to be checked 2 or 3 times a year for build up of dust, especially around fans and vents

 

Yes.
The dust can damage any electrical device by make a short in electric circuit and burn it down.
I sagest you to take a vacuum cleaner and clean it.
if you have a warranty do not open if no then the bast open case and use a soft dry brush to remove dust from electric components.
By the way in computer is the same.

 

In very moist areas, humidity plus dust will form a kind of mud that will certainly short circuit internal wiring if left unattended for long. All the suggestions above will work.

 

Do not use a vacuum btw, bad advice, vacuums are prone to causing static, especially with brush attachments. My best advice would be to use compressed air and an anti static brush to get rid of the fine dust. If you are super paranoid, you can also use an anti static wrist watch when cleaning the interior.

Most of the good info already mentioned. Just to add that like mentioned Dust will eventually damage any electrical item, electric current causes heat build & also static which attracts dust, smoke & generally any type of aptly charged particle.

It would be more of a concern in say a tube amp etc. As eleven rack has DSP chips it not as bad but eventually like everything 'The system will Fail'.

So in essence the major factor is try to restrict the cause which really is heat build up.

Make sure your eleven reack is properly mounted in a good rack. Also consider leaving plenty of ventilation space i.e do not install anything else directly above it or below it.

If the ventilation at the side, make room. Also always use a decent quality power conditioner & think about introduction a rack ventilation system. It's worth it as it's a good bit of expensive kit & worth the extra money.

Also like mentioned if under warranty never remove the lid as this will void it and you can also get a huge shock lol even when switched off and not even plugged in. Also clean say just your power lead as these get bunged up with dust.

If in doubt take it to a technician as for an expensive bit of kit it really isn't worth the risk unless it gonna cost u a load to get it serviced. Check out also at your local store as these places will sometimes do the job cheaper than sending it of to the company. Just be confident they know what they doing & have a good rep

 

I do actually use a leaf blower
it's absolutely fantastic removing dust from computers *yes*

just don't stand too close and don't have it on full throttle, otherwise the puter will take off and end up in your neighbours garden

 

That machine would blow my walls down, probably fall over from the blast, spill the petrol & blow up the house!

Computer would probably be left untouched & fine in a pile of burning rubble & timber!

This machine would deffo get the dust out!

I use a shaving brush. Works well for getting around hard to clean guitar parts too. Just be sure to get a good one that is nice & soft.
