Ha! That will be the day. I got some awards for helping the elderly but it's not like I did it for that anyway. You're absolutely correct on the government being more coercing, my friend and I were just talking about it the other day. About how government is doing everything besides what they need to be doing and are WAAAAAAAAYYYYY too involved in our daily lives. I live by one rule in regards to this: If you aren't harming someone else either physically or financially you have a right to do whatever the fuck you want. However if they weren't getting involved in every minutiae they might have to actually undertake the difficult things they have been completely ignoring.

Concerning Women in Electronic music: I think it has to do with the fact that they're simply not as interested in the field. Then there is the sad fact that women are discouraged because of the predominance of males and the ignorant attitudes that they have towards them as it is seen as an intrusion into their club or their turf. Perfect example just the other day ICP was trying to win an Uploaded.net contest and his entry for best joke was: women's rights. I mean WTF? Believe me he got a proper reaming from me on that one. A lot of guys on here have a less than acceptable attitude towards that and even when they're open to women in the field they still have some subconscious prejudice towards it. However these Conversation threads will certainly dispel those myths as we already have some examples of amazing female talent and we'll continue to see it when I post more updates. Just wait! I actually just found two interesting articles on this topic and I've linked to them here:
Why Are Female Record Producers So Rare?
Why Are There So Few Women Behind The Music?

Concerning Cold Weather: I try to condition myself to take failure as an opportunity to learn from my mistakes, that way next time I will be better prepared. In life mistakes are more valuable than success and we certainly learn a lot more from them. When you succeed you simply celebrate, when you fail you have a deep introspective moment which can redefine you as a human being. Let me tell you a story I heard that I think is amazing: The guy who made 3M Post-it notes was actually searching for an adhesive that you could never pry apart. He completely failed in that endeavor and came up with something that didn't really hold at all but he used it and made it into a multi-million dollar success. I think that looking at it like a sport is really great. Keep doing what you're doing because you're talented, creative and unique. You've got it all in your hands, all you have to do is grab it. By the way it really makes me happy that you see my nick as a good representation of me. Have a great weekend Rolma. :mates:

Let's get this weekend started :dancing: :dancing: :dancing:

    I shoot it low
    Kill the flow
Ruin myself out on the northshore
    I make it one
    Watch the sun
Sink behind the trees with the keys to the kingdom

    I shoot it high
    Let it fly
Bury myself under a blue sky
    I see a scheme
    Make it clean
Drown in blue rivers and a muffled scream

Call your number wishing I could make amends
And I'm caught in the space between my head and my face again

    I'll hit it down
    Kill the sound
Ruin myself out on the northbound
    I make it one
    Kill the sun
Bury my disease with the keys to the kingdom

Call your number wishing I could make amends
And I'm caught in the space between my head and my face again

    I shoot it low
    (Shoot it low)
    Kill the flow
    (Kill the flow)
Ruin myself out on the north shore

Call your number wishing I could make amends
And I'm caught in the space between my head and my face again

Call your number wishing I could make amends
And I'm caught in the space between my head and my face again

Our closer Junkie XL's Such A Tease really reminds me of my ex...but then again so would a song entitled Such A Bitch.

Oh, joys arise, the sun has come again to hold you
Sailing out the doldrums of the week
The polyphonic prayer is here, it's all around you
It's all around you out here

And if the whole world is crashing down on you
Fall through space, out of mind with me
Where the emptiness we leave behind on warm air rising
Those are the shadows far away

The falling of the whole empire, it's here to hold you
Rolling out and haunted till it sinks

    Little memories, marching on
Your little feet working the machine
Will it spin? Will it soar?
My little dream working the machine

    Soothe like a wave
    And crash far
    Closing in on the moon
    And who we are

    Little memories
Your little feet working the machine
Will it spin? Will it soar?
My little dream working the machine

    Soothe like a wave
    And crash far
    Closing in on the moon
    And who we are

    Have A Great Weekend Everybody!

Hell yeah man, I'm really glad you enjoyed it. These are personal favorites of mine and there's everything from dancing, to lounging to having an introspective moment.

My favorite line from that Parralox song is:
And so the time has arrived to make up your mind
Then find the child that's inside and run for your life

So much better than the usual insipid and vacuous fare in dance music.

PS I was just thinking about how blown away frito is going to be when he gets back online. So much has been posted since last time we saw him. He's going to be like a kid in a candy store. *yes*

GUYS! Don't move this topic into wrong direction. David Sylvian, Trip Hop, Lounge is not exactly electronic.
If you feel like sharing it, simple create a new topic *yes*

from the deepest to the hardest, here are some of my EDM tastes...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbaoJSpb2bk
that song is one of the freshest i know.. incredible mastering

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ou1_ZZ2NRlw
that one is beautiful. the compositor just died last year at the age of 27 of anevrism.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gg75y7e0bJQ
listen to that fluid downtempo song.. the end is amazing

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8Uhzxm6q2U
this is the kind of house i still like, called "deep house", a lot better than all that awful electro-sawtooth-synths house everywhere...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpo6Pk4uIwo
french house from the golden age. djs like dj falcon, dimitri from paris or the knight club made some cool house. now it is pure shit electro...

tech house - the junction between house (melodies, chillin mood) and techno (repetition, louder bassline, faster)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQ_EUeYGQTY
techno ten years before - chords & cool stabs and around 140BPM.. really nice public and atmospheres in festivals (germany, netherlands essentially).

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOFAp9KCl7I http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbvlYrnNme0
techno today ! slower and harder, easy to dance but extremely repetitive, stroboscopic or hypnotising white noise & cymbals. in festivals it is just madness.
remember that all complete songs i post starting from deep house are made with an intro & outro beat so djs can mix it (you don't hear these parts in a liveset as some of these djs can mix up to 4 songs at the same time).

150 bpm with cool transformed drumkicks, melodical, very very popular EDM style in the netherlands..

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcxxlvTf3Kk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpBWhhEN0WU
now this is getting hard.. industrial hardcore made with hip hop samples and louder drumkicks, but mainly NO melodies, and an other public ! there is a important drums'n'bass /breakcore influence in it but the kick is harder and more regular (to dance to it). the most surprising being the fact that the same festival hosts everything from techno to terror in the same festival.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kyfl9eNnmzs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wuMbUm3kGWE
the most extreme EDM style, the dutch "terror", from 200 to infinite BPM. it is often twice a hip hop song's BPM, so it mixes terror drumkicks with 90-110 BPM drumbeat and a lot of glitches effects.
listen to noisekick at 3:21, these djs know how to make a kick ! as always, in festival it is pure madness !

my 3 favorite EDM music styles are deep house, techno and terror. in Europe this scene is really well developped.
