The story behind 29-year-old former technical assistant named Edward Snowden who was responsible for the leaks of the PRISM surveillance program. Here's a scary thought: right now in Utah the government is building the Bluffdale surveillance facility which should be completed later this year. It houses some of the most powerful supercomputers and because of some breakthroughs that they have recently made with encryption they can essentially render encryption totally useless. I shudder to think what the future will look like. It's all gone to hell hasn't it? :(

Read the articles out of respect for the man that gave up everything so that you could have a chance at anything.

Here's another great article from The Guardian (highly recommended):

If you notice there have been a few people recently that have walked away from top positions in the government or the military to risk everything speaking out against these initiatives. That is the epitome of the strength that we as humans have yet so few of us wield it. It takes a very special kind of person.

I'm guessing it's like when you are there, when you witness the evil from it's core, than you start fighting against it, you know what are you giving up, for what are you fighting for and who are people you are fighting with.

It's like that saying that are implying if you can't defeat them, join them, so they were with them, now it's time to defeat them or die trying, pretty much anything that is left, opening eyes, speaking the truth and dying for that cause, hopping you will leave something for rest to come along, pretty brave move and if that don't force people to stand up...than...they tried.

Absolutely and the irony of it all is that if even 1% of the world stood up and insisted on some tangible change things would be different. Everyone thinks that they have to do some grandiose gesture but even little things can help like making people aware, signing a petition, sharing an article on Facebook, talking about it, pressuring your representatives, maybe sitting in on a protest, etc. People convince themselves that they have to be a martyr so they choose to do nothing instead. The Latin root of the word decision means to cut off from any other options. We might as well choose to do that ourselves rather than wait for them to do it for us.

You are absolutely right, that "small" things make the change, always it starts small, but it's going larger, pure example is this day, on this same day few years ago I ddin't had any hope and all this things were out of the reach for many, now it's there and we can, must and should carry on :mates:

I wish I could be bringing you guys some good news though. However better that the dirt is all out in the open. What we do with that information is what really matters now.

A very Brave Man....but I'm afraid that he will probably have an accident or die of cancer or be accused of rape...etc.
he obviously knows far too much about the NSA and he is a loose cannon...so 'they' cannot risk anymore disclosure's

And Obama has already taken a very tough stance against leaks. There was recently that story about how the government requested phone records of many Associated Press journalists and Matt Drudge tweeted that all reporters have to now operate under the assumption that they're being recorded. Then there was another story about the Fox News reporter that they were harassing over some leak, another about the IRS targeting Tea Party members for review as well as the other whistleblowers that have recently come forward...the list just goes on and on. The worst part is that things are accelerating at breakneck speeds.

Oh Orwell I always knew it would come to this. Such a sad day when the most horrific fiction becomes the commonplace reality. :(

And by the way you don't need to use the media tag if you're posting a YouTube video, just post the link. *yes*

Absolutely Lukie. Speaking of which Kim Dotcom is working on a new PRISM proof e-mail initiative. It is much needed in today's landscape and I'd be very interested to see where the project goes.
