They are indeed!. But Play 4 has problems, Strings don't loop if you need them to, Choir is inconsistent in dynamics (I did a mix with it. Never again.). And ther is ... and... but...
The only yhing he did right is Spaces. But today we have such an amount of reverbs

I wouldn't go into EW ever again.

 

Unlike other products like Kontakt that get better and better, Play just gets worse and worse and they refuse to fix old bugs and just blame the users for it, "it's not our fault, it's your system's fault". It's appaling. They only care about new libraries, and not fixing their engine to work better with older libraries. I would never dare to get the Hollywood series as my main orchestral libraries because of the shitty Play engine. For secondary instruments, it's ok but to build your whole template on Play would be a friggin disaster waiting to happen.

sidenote; the 'ew" just screams Ewwwwww... at me.

 

Really is a shame... EWQLSO was the premier library of its time (and would hold up decently today if it didn't lack true legato).

The dongle I could deal with, but as fantastic as Hollywood Brass and Strings sound (can't say the same for Hollywood Woodwinds...), I can't deal with Play. The problem is, they KNOW that it's bad, but at this point they're entrenched and don't want to turn around and let someone else handle the sampler while they focus on that they do best: making libraries.

 

I don't see what the fuss is about. I use Play 4, and I have all libraries no problems here. Works in Logic, Ableton,ProTools and VE Pro....never crashed once. This is a realistic Ibarra s no looped sustains. Get Nexus and orchestra expansion for that.

They have a holiday offer up with the 8th instrument supposedly free (it says "lowest priced", I don't even know how it calculates it but it's definitely not free for all the selections). Dunno if it was there when the op was put up. Saw it today. It probably was (the 60% cut was always there), but it's better to have it clearly stated (the image is different).

 

It is my wish that this week or tomorrow same, can go up the any one of these glorious and spectacular bookshops:
ample sound, Virtual Pianos Instrument, Hollywood Strings Virtual Instrument, Symphonic Orchestra Virtual Instrument
