    Hi!

I didn't know where to post this so sorry if it's in the wrong section.

I just wanted to ask you guys a little question about music theory. Does all the notes in my chord should fit the scale or only the root note?

For exemple, if i am in the scale of F# minor and i want to play a B Major chord (So it's B, D and F#) the root note of the chord is in the scale, but not third of the chord. Can i put it in my track anyway?

    Thank you guys!
And sorry for (very) bad english :)

    I'm not an specialist but:
That chord is Bm (B minor)
    B (B major) is B - D# - F#.
There are two minor scales: armonic and melodic.
But, in the end, it depends on what you're trying to express with your music, and its style or genre. If I'm not wrong, the fourth augmented was called the devil interval in the middle-age.

Yes, but every artform must follow some rules and composers can't forget that "Audience is listening" (Steve Vai).

Boring make chords in a tonal scale.
Learn about serial music to open your ears but it can make you away from the shitty pop that 13th year girls buy (where is the real money)
But you also learn different scale because western tonal music is a culture that must be broken. :bleh:
Remembering: Melodies are the master of the music and its not necessary because you can make music only with melodies. This is counterpoint and you must hear Bach music for example.
Harmony is a simplistic way to make music.
Also research the difference of bass and melody.Almost 99% of the music have lots of basses with no melody, poor music can sound good too but is a nonsense and boring right?

    F# min is the relative minor of A major, so the scale is F# G# A B C# D E

    Harmonic minor F# G# A B C# D F

    Melodic minor F# G# A B C# D# F

    Probably this helps :

The tritone(augmented forth) is just the most possible dissonance. It is exactly the middle of an octave -> 6.
Have a listen of the latest "Star Trek - Into Darkness", Sound track it is in there as progression :)
