Any good Drum Loop to Midi converter out there? Toontracks superior drummer is decent, but only works with isolated kit pieces as far as i can tell. I only have a stereo loop to work with. Ableton's built in drum to midi is terrible. i need something with pretty good accuracy.

I remember seeing a YT video demonstrating how Superior Drummer's tracker can extract separate drum parts from the stereo mix of an entire song. I'll get back to you if I manage to find it.

Not exactly a full mix, but still a single drum track:

Logic Drum Machine Designer. Fuse Audio DrumsSSX will separate by frequency if you can't unlayer something. EQ to frequency split and multiple copies.

Beyond this, I would maybe try with Melodyne, but I haven't needed to ever. Another option would be Serato Sample v2. as it has AI separation also now in v2 but I haven't tried it. I don't often just test things to see the results so I haven't checked out a demo with it. If it shows up on Sister Site (or good sale price), it shows up; but I am not going to hold my breath.

If you are chopping up breakbeats, then you want to preserve the continuity of the break. If not, I'd usually rather start with the Midi and add the samples.

The best solution I know is called DRT Drum Replacer by Massey plugins. The only downside (well for a lot of folks) is that it is Pro Tools only. Second best of all is UVI Drum Replacer. It has a module that "learns" the drum parts and lets you isolate them for separation. This is the feature that can help you convert drums to MIDI. It's not straight forward, but it works. I drums to MIDI all the time, and both tools help me a lot.

I use this on Mac but it was not exactly cheap. SPL Drum Xchanger looks like a very big update since I last used it. Melda has one also, I believe; and I am sure there are others. If the SPL one performs well, and with the features available, it might be a contender for the UVI version.
