As the title says, I am looking for a VSTi or Kontakt, BFD, toontrack whatever that has a decently
sampled "clean" late 1970's to early 1980's Yamaha drum Kit?

I'd take a more modern one as long as it is not over processed.

I need the specific sound of the Yamaha along the lines of Tony Thompson.

 

There are some nice 70s presets inside the BFD3 Factory Library

 

Toontrack has a fair selection.
You can have them as dry as you like via the mixer.

There's ML Sound Lab Drums. There's a free version, very few stuff but it's free and you can check if you like it or not It's not a trial, you can just use it normally. Doesn't need Kontakt, run on its own. Via the mixer you can easily tweak the snare, toms and ohs. Check their free version, literally, costs nothing, lol. If you like it, then you get the full version which adds more toms, snares, crashes, cymbals, etc. Personally, I'm loving this thing. Mikko said they'll be adding more stuff soon.

 

That Sound, Abbey Road 80s Drummer, Analogue Drums may have had some, can't remember. Toontrack Seventies Rock? Think drumwerks has a 70s kit.
