I Just installed today and runs really smooth. Ableton, Bitwig, Reaper and most of the plugins work.

    Thanks for this!

Does this then stay on your computer as a technical preview or does it need to upgrade to the official release, which is purchased?

For now there is no expiration date for this version. However I am sure you will need to install a legit windows if you want the final version.

It might be a bit soon to ask, but so far how do you feel it handles music production?

All Win 8.1 drivers worked fine. Any issue. In fact they installed easily.

So no problems at that side.

MYCbeats, yeah too early to ask. I haven't had time to make a real test.

studio5599, mine is not a fresh install, it's an upgrade from my previous 8.1 system, because I wanted to test that feature, and compare with my old system. And if I say is faster, is because I'm comparing between two busy and hard working systems, not fresh installs.

Is there any noticeable change to windows 8.1, besides the start menu ?

Thanks Zeus for the detailed info...

but i want to mention that the Techpreview is recording your use of the Software and as far i know at this stage we all dont know what Data Microsoft will hoard :dunno:
even heard that the use Keyloggers to get the feedback they need...plus that the last build 9926 is buggy as hell

i dont want to start a discussion here as it was Zeus intention to inform us about its usage....

    just my two cents

    cheers :mates:

Maybe I'll fish out an unused machine and try it out but I really don't have the time to monkey around with it. My studio machine is running 8.1 quite smoothly but has no firewall or AV as it is never attached to the internet. As for upgrades my philosophy is "if it ain't broke - don't break it".

My net machine is running 7 because 8 removed Windows Media Center which runs my DVR. Micro$oft's reaction to the complaints was to sell you Win8 Pro upgrade for $100 to return Media Center. Can anyone tell me if WMC is native to 10? If not I'll be refusing any free upgrades to 10.

I will echo the concerns over data collection and "the cloud". Good name for it because it's exactly like a dark cloud hovering over your experience. Windows 8 web integration is annoying but this is gonna become a real problem for most OSes in the future. Very against the idea.

Thanks a lot to zeus for the info, looks great. :grooves:

Probably it will be possible to remove unwanted web/cloud features with something like this some day?
