    Hello Everybody,

sorry for my absolutely beginner question, but can somebody explain me something?
I recorded a trumpet player. So I have only one trumpet recorded.
Is there any plug-in I can use to let the trumpet sound like it has been played by different players?
    Something like "doubling" the sound...
Sorry hard to explain what I need, like in this video starting around 0:19min

I make music for a longer period now, actually I should know this, but in this case I have to pass.
    Thank you for your help!

you need 2-3 different effects, I will list for you plugins by Waves that are pretty classic for this sound

1 a subtle chorus, you can use Waves Doubler https://www.waves.com/plugins/doubler
there are 2 voices version, 4 voices version or even 6 if I am not wrong, try them all
2 the famoust "beatles tape doubler" done with Waves REEL ADT https://www.waves.com/plugins/reel-adt
    3 a "slap delay" with a tape machine like Waves J37 https://www.waves.com/plugins/j37-tape

you will need probably a combination of these 3 effects, well balanced among them.

look in the presets of these plugins and you will find what you need for sure. If you dont have Waves look for similar plugins

There is a manual trick that is very natural too. Duplicate the track and manually shift each note randomly in samples. Some may call it out of phase, but it isn't because it's the same recording. No trumpet section plays every note in exactly the identical timing space, neither does any section and that's why it sounds like a section.. e.g...Some notes will be a 512th of a beat different (a demisemihemidemihemisemiquaver), ahead or behind and the next may be on or late, so on and so forth. It is not a quick process, but rewarding when you get it right and you'll be quicker at it each time you do it. You duplicate once for each trumpet you want, and do not make any of them identical. The only one that remains untouched is your original. - Also - there should be no real 'flamming' of notes, that's when you know you have it close to right.

It depends how important it is for you to have it sound real. If the only goal is to make it sound fatter and bigger, FX and techniques like mentioned above will do the job.

That's basically what the old Abbey Road ADT process did using analog tape. Available now in a Waves plugin. Used carefully it can be a pretty convincing double.

    Hey man,
    That's not doubling, that's harmonizing.
    Try lowering 5 steps trumpet
