If your on Windows and using Cubase, according to Steiny do not upgrade to Windows 10

Apparently they are having some issues there working on but also Quicktime 7.7.7 is incapable with Win 10 so renders both Cubase and Nuendo useless for video at the moment.

what ever is your DAW of choice check with the manufacturer before upgrading

    Same goes for plug ins

    Just some friendly advice

(steinberg did say that it does work on "some systems" but they didn't elaborate on which ones)

well...there will be a Cubase update soon, I think :) I'm gonna install Win10 on my non-musical machine (an old desktop, but it still has something to say) and try it...we'll see

thats why one should test all apps before installing windows 10 in a virtual machine.

i will do this now, will take extra time, but you can go sure all is working.
the problem is QT is an apple product, so MS dont care about it. :bleh:

but i am sure Steinberg will react on it. i was reading Ableton is windows 10 ready already, not sure about all my plugin, will have to check.

@JudoLudo if apple isnt updating QT, then Steinberg cant do anything. thats why you shouldnt rely on a 3rd party product from a company like Apple. :dunno:

guyz here a sheet with all the compatibility between Steinberg products and Win10 (DAILY UPDATED)

    https://www.steinberg.net/nc/en/sup...lity-info-regarding-microsoft-windows-10.html

yeah, it could cause some troubles for Nuendo. but I think for Cubase there won't be any troubles, isn't it?

No problems with WIN 10 here so far with ALL my plugins, DAW, MIDI Controllers and even Quicktime.

Been testing it for almost 6 months already.

EDIT: Sorry, I just tried to use Quicktime in a video project and crashed.

Because of these kind of news I'm always really carefull with OS changes/big updates.
I'll give Win10 a reasonable chance, but not that soon. Will need to find a timeframe when even the worst case cenario wouldn't cause many problems.
But the feedback for Win10 is surprisingly good so far. There have been waaay worse updates in the past.

Thanks to the OP for wasting my time reading this thread. Next time be more specific with your thread title, e.g 'Steinberg users - Don't upgrade to Win 10 yet'

I've just updated one machine from 8.1 to 10. Like the new look and runs fine

Ran a pretty complex project bout 32 tracks in cubase 8 worked fine., no timing issues. Not tested rigourously yet & I don't use Cubase for Video stuff. Imagine that's where the main problem will b as that what it uses Quicktime 4 mainly.

Not advising anyone 2 do anything
    .

Gonna do a clean install on another machine and test.

Common sense things like backup important stuff lol. Also b careful wrt softare locations if doing a clean install i.e if u use any licences that bound say with IloK crap etc. Delete locations first if necessary as u wont get em back. Looks good so far tho but time will tell.

Typical it would b quicktime rubbish :woot:

thats why i run always tests, what is working and what not.

for example now i am installing win10 pro x64 in virtualbox and then i will test everytrhing i have here installed on win7.
if everything works i will upgrade (ok i hope i can tune win10 to my needs :bleh: )

OSX isnt doing well, since Jobs died, dont know maybe his accuracy and attention did that? i dont know, well. i only tried SL 10.6.8 and is was a nice OS.

Windows 10 has still many bugs. So it is wise to wait until the first update. Until than all Daw's and plug'ins will be also updated.
