Hi guys,
I'm a Windows user and I would like to start working in Dolby Atmos on my studio. I am interested in buying this software, which is the full version of Dolby Atmos for Windows? Could anyone tell me more about this Suite? Can I use it with Pro Tools?

I just looked on Westlake Pro, and there is this Suite for sale (also present in requests thread on sister site):

right? that's usually when they say the software costs 1000. but the workstation. is the other 9. or whatever crazy number. and then if you want any customizations, forget it. enormous charges for any programming changes.

you really need to think through investing in a system like that, because you are kinda stuck with them forever.

the second you asked about is the same thing: In order to render Dolby Atmos content and use the Dolby Atmos Mastering Suite, you will need to purchase an RMU computer with specific MADI cards. Westlake Pro will correctly install these cards for you at no extra charge – just add the complete Dolby Atmos Mastering Suite + Dell RMU + Card Installation bundle to your order! (I'll bet this is where the rest of 10 grand goes easily, no prices listed on website)

So how much of these capabilities can be done in Logic 10.7 now? I've only watched an update overview video of it.

Yes, I agree but on Westlake Pro I can purchase the software only without any additional components. In fact, I proceeded to checkout until I stopped at the last step. It seems you can buy the software for Windows.

 

Switch to Mac and get Logic Pro X. All Dolby Atmos plugins are included.

 

That Westlake product is for theatrical Atmos (abbreviated DAMS), which needs an RMU computer to render & play the ADM file.
There's also a home theater Atmos plugin for PT (abbreviated DAPS) that uses the computer to render an MP4 file with EAC3 encoded audio.

Nuendo 11 has built in Atmos capability.

if you dont have the computer, the receiver, the speakers, and the listening situation, what would you do with the software?

it is not like people who produce for cinema movies would be rich, but they have income enough to buy a software for 1000 bucks.

20 years back you paid 1000 bucks only for the waves denoiser in TDM format... or for nuendo for that matter.

DAMS isn't really for DA & music. If you want to make Atmos music on windows, Resolve studio would be the cheapest & self-integrated option at $600 or so.

And how many times have you seen someone ask if they could run such software without the hardware? When someone asks about compatibility of a product that is listed on the website's system requirements, it's reason to wonder if they have done any research themself at all.

 

that´s a decoder.

you can not mix object based formats with it in a DAW.

 

i dont even care enough about these formats to have an opinion about someone possibly listening to his atmos mix in a 2.1 downmixed format or whatever.

but if the downmix is done in a good quality, he will waste quite some CPU only for that.

otoh, a studio is not a cinema.
