I have just been trying out a new technique with regards to mastering, and I would really like to know if it sounds good or bad. Thanks.

Sounds great to me too. Transparent you can hear the layers in the sound. Have you checked the LUFS level. Check it against any of the Serban Geenah mixes. Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake, Ariana Grande, Britanny Spears and the list goes for ever. Which is just about every top 10 hit.
    So what are you doing.

    Thanks, much appreciated.

Thank you very much. I'm in the process of sorting out some new monitor speakers, so this was done with just headphones. I have no way of knowing other than by relying on other people for the moment. I do intend on trying it in the car and on a laptop later too though..

I have been mixing for 50 years and just moved to headphones. I am using Beyer DT 990 pro with EQ to make them totally flat. It took me 4 months to get used to them but now I am confident for the first time in my career with what I am getting.

Confidence in what you're doing must feel great. I'm still trying to achieve that.

Sounds well-balanced to me. For my taste, the kick and snare could punch harder and the bass could be a bit crunchier, but that's more an aesthetical than technical observation.

While your mixing if you loose your confidence, stop mixing and come back later. If you are not confident about your monitoring it is not as serious as you think. You can listen to mixes by people and know what frequencies are wrong in their monitors.
This is why mastering was born. A mastering engineer is basically correcting bad monitoring.

i am missing some mid warmth/low mids. But that is taste.

I hear no unwanted distortion, technically it sounds fine to me.
Nice track i like it. Everything has its space and place good job.

Sounds fine, it leans toward being bright, there are some big volume shifts with the bass solos and runs - probably something that needs to be taken care of in the mix itself though - or it can be some very tricky automated D-EQ work - either way, it will do.

Not sure where you were going for as far as loudness targets but sounds like you are in the old early to mid nineties range probably around -9RMS or 10LU. Well done.

To be honest, I didn't do any (individual) work to the drums, I treated them as one entity (mistake) and I can perhaps use a little bit of overdrive to the bass next time. (all noted)
    Thank you

I'm hoping to get new monitors soon, although your idea about specialist headphones for mixing has me intrigued.

Thank you. I think the new monitors might help me sort out the low mids and all round eq.

    Cheers Thantrax :)

I know it's never going to be professional, I'm just happy with 'acceptable' (Early to mid 90's levels? I'll happily take that)

Sounds fine to me. IMO low mids of the snare/clap don't come thru all time - compare 0:40 with 1:05.

Which amp you used for the e-guitar?
